Meet Jon Cook of Keynote Content in Castle Rock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Cook.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started blogging in college, just a way to get my thoughts out, share ideas, and connect with a crowd. After a year or so of posting, I found out people could subscribe to my blog. That’s when I realized 2,200 people already subscribed to my posts. It was exciting, humbling, and I wanted to get better. If I was going to be a writer, I needed to write a lot more. I wrote just over two million words over the past eight years.

That’s why people started reaching out to me – businesses, nonprofits, authors. They wanted me to write different content promoting and reviewing their events and books. By that time, I was married and talked with my wife about this momentum. We both felt it was a great time to launch Keynote Content. It was scary, sure, but I knew I have a gift helping craft and share stories to create a better world.

I started writing copy for brands like Ford, Chevrolet, JEEP, Chick-fil-A, LearJet, Savile Row, the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, am second, the list goes on. Working with global brands was incredible – no, life-changing – and yet, I knew there was a more meaningful approach.

In early 2017, I made the difficult decision not to work with large corporations, turn down a massive contract, and focus solely on serving speakers, coaches, and consultants. These are amazing individuals who are saving lives, rescuing marriages, bringing hope to hurting people, raising the alarm for our planet, pushing back against injustice, and creating a safe, inviting space for everyone’s voice.

It’s an overwhelming honor to play a part in helping their messages reach the world around us. Not once in many years have I worried about making a dollar because making a difference creates all the momentum we need.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it certainly hasn’t been a smooth road because smooth seas never made skilled sailors. The easy choice was writing copy and content for large corporations. Life’s not about the easy choice though.

The hardest part, if any part has been truly difficult, is recognizing there are hellacious gaps in our society where injustice, toxicity, and evil still exist. The hope for me is that I get to play a part in changing the conversation, calling out racism, prejudice, a litany of other injustices, and creating a better future for everyone and our planet.

We have such a long way to go as a society. There is still hope because hope doesn’t expire unless we believe so.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Keynote Content crafts and shares meaningful stories for others. If you’re a speaker, coach, or consultant, we know how to bring clarity to your Message, identify and create a better connection with your target Market, and share what you’re most passionate about in a Manifesto-type style.

We do this through copywriting and content creation. Sales copy, email campaigns, blog articles, book manuscripts, website content, keynote presentations, workshop content – if you have a message you want to share with a crowd, we can help you create a powerful connection.

What I’m most proud of when it comes to Keynote Content is we don’t work with just anyone. We ask all prospective clients to read our Manifesto and fully understand our M3 Clarity framework. One of the lines in our Manifesto is “Life is too short to work with jerks, so we don’t and we won’t.” I sleep pretty well knowing I’m helping good, kind, and selfless people grow their impact.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Denver is a perfect place for growing your message as a speaker, coach, or consultant. With Denver’s accelerated role in the tech startup space, the much-needed awareness of global crises, environmental acuity, and rise in publishers, events, and influencers, I couldn’t ask for a better time or place to grow Keynote Content than Denver. As a Denver native, I love hearing new voices enter the conversation who can help us take Denver to heights we can only dream of right now.
