Today we’d like to introduce you to Kari Kisch.
Kari, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a young competitive dancer, I experienced how makeup and beauty impacted my performance. So when I choose my path I went for the industry I already had the strongest passion for. I started my career in the retail arena working with cosmetic brands and even helped with the initial launch of MAC Cosmetics into the US markets and eventually became a trainer for them for over 10 years. This experience gave me the opportunity to work on various skin tones, features and personalities, which in turn became the foundation for my success. Now I’ve been a professional makeup artist for over 25 years working in print, theater, television, pageantry, and beauty education. Looking to my future and the need to challenge and grow my artistic abilities, I found The micro pigmentation ( Permanent Makeup) world fascinating. With many clients’ requests and a need for a more natural approach to micropigmentation, I launched my personal brand Mod Micro Makeup and today I focus most of my time on helping others achieve a more carefree approach to their daily beauty routine.
Has it been a smooth road?
With an ever hanging industry, there’s a need for constant evolution. Being a beauty professional is an extremely rewarding profession, but also has an extreme amount of competition and misunderstandings That come with it. In the industry, it’s very common for one’s rates to be questioned with most “ outsiders” not fully understanding the value of service, licensing, and dedication it takes. With social media everyone thinks they are a “makeup artist” when the actually may only be applying products they choose for themselves. This is even common in the micropigmentation industry with everyone requesting extremely bold eyebrows when a more subtle approach would be better suited for them period. As an artist there’s a regular struggle with perceived expectations versus a more realistic approach. The best artists communicate this honestly and that takes patience.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Mod Micro Makeup – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a micropigmentation artist with a makeup artistry background. This gives me an artistic approach to helping individuals enhance their appearance in a carefree way that lasts. I work with the most advanced technology and pigments coming directly from the leaders micropigmentation industry. I’ve even traveled to Europe to take advanced classes directly from the master.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Denver is amazing! The pace of life has the ideal work/play balance for myself period. I love having access to the mountains. I travel regularly and the fact we are in the middle of the US makes it ultra-convenient for me to get anywhere.
