Meet Kelsey Wolpert of Karma + Wright in Englewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Wolpert.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am the owner/stylist of Karma + Wright, which is a studio concept hair salon. I decided to open my own studio in July of 2018. I am passionate about blonding and bronding and love making personal connections with each and every one of my clients. I decided to leave the big salon atmosphere to create a more intimate and exclusive space to provide services for my clients.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Leaving the big salon was a hard decision because it is scary going out on your own. I was concerned that I did not have a large enough clientele to be able to survive on my own. Through word of mouth and my walking billboards (my clients) I have overcome this struggle and have been able to grow my business substantially.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Karma + Wright story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in color and cutting hair services. I specialize in lobs (long bobs) and blonding. My proud moments come when I spin my client around in the chair and they see their new hair for the first time and love it! Connecting with people on personal levels is really what sets me aside from my fellow hairstylists. The entire time my client is in my chair, I am fully focused on learning more about them and their lives.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I was lucky that I took the chance when I did to branch out on my own because who knows where I would be in this very moment if I didn’t. I believe I took the correct opportunity at the perfect time.
