Meet Kimberly Ingham of Bubbling Buddha Soaps in Colorado Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Ingham.

Kimberly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I moved to the beautiful state of Colorado in 2000 with my boyfriend, now husband. I was under the impression my skin wouldn’t need more attention moving from the desert to the mountains. However, after moving to Colorado from New Mexico, I struggled with severe dry, cracked skin. Colorado weather and altitude are no joke when it comes to skincare.

After having my daughter and passing on my sensitive skin to her, it made me search for a more practical and safe solution to our red and angry over-washed hands. After many attempts at purchasing commercial soaps and lotions, I finally came to the conclusion that I would either have to move out Colorado, get rid of my skin or find products that would work with my whole family. After researching other soaps and alternatives, my supportive and concerned husband convinced me to make handmade soaps.

After making my first batch of soaps I realized that handmade soaps were the solution, I had control of the oils and butters that went into it, and I chose fatty acids that worked well with Rocky Mountain skin. Not to mention cold process and hot process soaps had an essential ingredient for drawing in moisture, not repelling it, which is glycerin.

My next hurdle was to find a moisturizer that would also benefit my family as well as others that suffered from dryness. Most intense lotions turned my daughter’s as well as my skin red from the preservatives. Most body butter tended to be tacky, waxy or greasy. My main objective was to make a body butter that felt good to put on and was convenient, which is when I came up with my Bubbling Buddha Body Butter Bars.

I love sharing my soaps and body butters with people that love this dry, semi-arid climate, but don’t want to move or get rid of their skin! It’s my mission to help people keep their Rocky Mountain skin in tip-top condition while enjoying unique and fun scents.

Has it been a smooth road?
Every path has its bumps in the road. My challenge was looking at these struggles and overcoming them with grace and patience while keeping my attitude in check.

At first, I put in a lot of time in with this business and found that time with my family was waning. This was counterproductive to why I wanted to start an entrepreneurial lifestyle. It led me to look into how to balance my life better.

I was able to find solutions in being more insightful with myself and my surroundings. Focusing my energy into what was important to me and why I wanted to do it. My whole way of thinking has started to change, which in return I am able to more easily focus on what sparks my passion while also helping others.

Having my own business has not only led me to skincare solutions for my family and others but also revelations in myself so that I can inspire others to find a life of well-being.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business specializes in soaps and body butters. My focus is not only Rocky Mountain skin but creating an atmosphere of fun, love and encouragement. I believe if you’re comfortable in your skin, you can focus more on the beauty within.

I do a lot of fairs and markets and interacting with people is one of the fun parts of my job. My intention is to make you smile at least once while I smooth over a silky sample of body butter on your hands. I love it when people leave my table with a feeling of serenity and a grin on your face.

I am proud of my products, the customer service, and the energy my company brings to the table.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I LOVE the city of Colorado Springs! This is the town I got married in, where my two children were born and the people here have the best hearts. Although this town has a bi-polar weather system, I do enjoy the beauty of the mountains, trees and wildlife of Colorado Springs. The ever-changing environment never gets boring.

I could do without the icy roads!
