Meet Korynne Mykal of KMYKAL in Green Valley Ranch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Korynne Mykal.

Korynne, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my business during my sophomore year of college. I have always loved fashion and I decided I wanted to share my creations with the world. Streetwear is a style of clothing that can be worn by all shapes, sizes, genders and can be worn as casual wear or dressed up with heels. My first piece was a cropped hoodie. The response was decent, but I knew that I could come harder. My next line was KM3M, which involved 3M reflective hoodies, bodysuits, cropped hoodies, etc. I continued to add different levels of creativity to each line and my customer base GREW! I am very blessed to be able to create and receive the support and love I have been shown.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Running a business is not easy. Besides creating, one has to understand the business, financial, and marketing sides of your brand. I have had many struggles with creating my website, finding a cost-efficient screen printer that was reliable, mailing and packing resources, and ways to market my brand. I had so much help and support from my family and friends to get my business up and running, but with every level are different struggles. My best advice is to tackle each struggle head-on, learn from your mistakes, remain consistent, and keep believing in yourself.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I create streetwear (hoodies, cropped hoodies, t-shirts), swimwear, and accessories. I specialize in artistic streetwear pieces that represent embracing your Kulture. I am known for my KM KAMO Kulture Matter hoodies and my Rated K: Kulture Matters tees. The definition I created for this line reads, “The Kustoms, Arts, Lifestyles & Achievements of a Nation.” I am most proud of the message I am putting out into the community and my exclusive KM pieces. What sets me apart from other brands is what my brand stands for. I am able to represent all shapes and sizes while boosting the confidence of my customers. My customers are very proud to wear KMYKAL.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very shy and quiet. I was not talkative unless I had known you for a while. I have always loved clothes, hair, and beauty products. My mom is a Denver Celebrity hairstylist, so I have always been involved in the beauty industry. I also was very athletic. I played many sports growing up, but basketball was my main sport. My dad was my coach growing up, so I was able to be girly with my mom and tomboyish with my dad. I was always in the gym, the hair salon, or sleeping.
