Today we’d like to introduce you to Krista Karpowich.
Krista, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Krista and I’ve had dogs my entire life. They were of different breeds, shapes, sizes and colors; but each and everyone stole my heart. I’ve always wanted to give my dogs the best lives possible. And that’s why I’m so passionate about exploring the latest research and findings in canine health care, nutrition and overall well-being.
In early 2018, because I wanted to learn more about dog food and nutrition, I completed an in-depth course in Canine Nutrition with the Companion Animal Sciences Institute. Wow, did I learn a lot! But there is so much more to learn and I’m passionate about sharing all of my findings with you.
Through the weekly Wag Out Loud Pawdcast, my goal is to share valuable information with other dog lovers via short and succinct episodes (solo episodes as well as in-depth interviews with the experts) that cover canine health and nutrition, as well as recommendations about products and services that I’ve used and have found to enhance the lives of dogs.
My hope is that by listening to the tips and information provided here on our podcasts, you will enhance the bond with your dog and help them be as happy and healthy as possible.
My husband John and I live outside of Denver, CO and are lucky enough to share our lives with our wonderful ten-year-old male Norwich Terrier named Winston.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a challenging but super rewarding journey. I am the least technical person out there, so for me to figure out all of the equipment, applications, software, editing skills, etc., I feel like I’ve really accomplished a lot. And I am learning so much just from the guest episodes, current research, the listeners and new products and services. Looking back, I am amazed at what I’ve done to get here and I know that opportunities will continue as I follow my passion. I encourage everyone with a dream to follow their heart, align themselves with people who can assist and do what makes you happy as you make an impact in the world around you.
Wag Out Loud Pawdcast – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I started Wag Out Loud to initially launch the podcast and create a platform where dog lovers can share and learn about canine health, nutrition and overall well-being. Many pet parents are confused with how best to care for their four-legged family members: medications vs holistic approaches and disease prevention, what should I feed my dog (commercial, home cooked, raw, dehydrated, extruded, canned)? What are the best products for my dog? How do I choose a veterinarian? Should I pay to have someone walk my dog or look into doggie daycare? Would CBD oil help my dog? How do dogs think? Why don’t we have better regulations when it comes to pet food? What do I need to know when I bring home a new puppy? I could go on and on regarding all of the possible topics and that’s why the show is resonating. In just two short months, we have over 1500 subscribers from all over the world.
There are other dog podcasts out there, but nobody else is focusing on health and nutrition, two topics that are very top of mind with people who want to keep their dogs happy and healthy.
I have lots of ideas on how else I can make an impact and will be exploring those as well, but for now, I am focused on providing quality content and sharing it with others.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is realizing what your Big Why is and doing something that fits in with realizing that. It’s when you get out of bed every morning excited about the possibilities and knowing that what you are doing matters. No matter how big or small your efforts, as long as you are making a difference and doing what you love at the same time, that is what we all should strive for. It also knows who you are, what you’re all about and truly loving yourself. None of us has everything all figured out, but the ride along the way should be an adventure as well as a constant learning opportunity.
