Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Willets.
Kyle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey to becoming a physical therapy and nutrition practice owner has been anything but linear. And, as a result, Alpine Fit does health a little differently.
At 23, I graduated with my doctorate in physical therapy, received national recognition as a top new grad, and became very ill.
When well-meaning doctors were not able to help me, I began to experience first-hand the failures of the current medical system.
Eager to restore my health and life I sought alternative care including yoga, Ayurveda, and functional medicine. Eventually, I started to feel better and began to study each of these practices to become certified in all three.
It became paramount to me to practice without compromise to insurance, corporations, or cookie-cutter protocols. Instead, Alpine Fit is dedicated to providing exceptional individualized care, treating holistically, and targeting root cause.
My motto is “I dig deeper”. And, essentially, I practice the medicine that I sought; medicine that combines the rigor of science with the art of healing.
As Alpine Fit continues to grow and expand, we’re proud to serve Boulder and Denver residents as well as remote clients through Telehealth.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Any time you go forth without a map, you’re bound to get a bit lost along the way.
When Alpine Fit opened its doors, I felt competent with my skills as a physical therapist and nutritionist, but as a new business owner, I had a steep learning curve to tackle. I made mistakes and course-corrected often to keep my sanity and stay on track.
Determined not to borrow money or go into debt getting started, I held two jobs for over two years seeing clients before and after my day job. It was a sacrifice and there were days I felt overwhelmed and exhausted, but I also felt compelled by something more important to me than just making money and really believed in the cause.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Alpine Fit – what should we know?
Alpine Fit is a physical therapy and nutrition clinic located in Boulder, CO and seeing clients internationally via Telehealth. The practice mission is to provide the very best holistic care in a way that is both safe and effective.
As a physical therapist, I specialize in sports & orthopedic rehabilitation and have advanced certifications in spine and scoliosis. Some interventions used include dry needling, myofascial release, joint mobilization, therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re-education, and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization.
As a nutritionist, I work with clients with autoimmune and digestive disorders utilizing a blend of western and eastern medicine approaches from Ayurveda and Functional Medicine. The Path to Wellness is our signature program for nutrition, health-optimizing, and medical weight loss.
Other services include: massage therapy, remote and local bi-annual cleanses and online programs and support.
Alpine Fit is designed for healing. The space itself is tranquil and soothing with exposed brick walls and soft natural light. We offer herbal tea, purified water, and essential oils for rejuvenation and relaxation.
We are proud to exist almost exclusively on word-of-mouth referrals and are grateful to do the work we most love. We welcome new clients M-F and can accommodate most schedules. We look forward to meeting you!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe that health challenges tend to have a silver lining. For me, that silver lining has been compassion. My personal health experiences have allowed me to walk a mile in the shoes of someone with chronic, debilitating joint pain as well as severe abdominal distress and a myriad of autoimmune issues. If I hadn’t gone through this myself and come out the other side feeling healthy and whole, I wouldn’t be able to look my clients in the eyes and have not only empathy but also belief and understanding of a path forward.
