Meet LaDane Smith of Miss Macie Boots in Bailey/Mercedes

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaDane Smith.

LaDane, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I got the opportunity to work a retail show for Old Gringo at NFR during my Christmas break from teaching. This was the beginning of me working full time for Old Gringo. After many years with Old Gringo, I was hired by Lane boots to revamp and design their line. After many years with them, I was blessed with the opportunity to work for Ryan Vaughn and Mr. Trainor Evans of Anderson Bean Boot Company to create a new line which we decided to call Miss Macie, named after Mr. Trainor’s grandmother. This venture with Miss Macie has truly been the love of my career. Sometimes, it is so hard to understand the path your life has taken until you finally start “Walking into your Purpose.” Miss Macie is like no other boot company! We have truly been directed to provide the best quality boots and booties to women, along with promoting love, friendship, guidance, mentoring and prayers for them to be blessed in all areas of their lives. You see, Miss Macie is a ministry as well as a successful business.

We receive praise reports daily for our product and our unity in prayers for someone. ” The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion”. -Paulo Coelho. Our team believes this and wants to be that example.

I do want to say that I don’t believe anyone has had more amazing, talented people in the industry mentoring me, challenging me and cheering me on. That is to me the most amazing blessing anyone could ever ask for.

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing wonderful has ever been without struggles! We started Miss Macie in the worst possible economy and the down cycle of western influence for the clothing industry. This was a perfect example of what I tell young people seeking my advice after they have been told there is no market for their dream, If this is a desire of your heart, this is part of your purpose. Work hard, stay focused, sew seeds in other peoples dreams and have faith in what God has planted in your heart. You too will ” Walk into your purpose”!

Miss Macie ladies footwear is a collection of boots with premier construction, with comfort unprecedented. I am the Brand Manager. I oversee the designs, inventory, sales team, sales, training, social media, marketing, customer service, and all retailer needs. Over the years, I have been so blessed by some of the most talented people to be a part of our team. The thing I am the proudest of is the people that God has blessed me with as part of my team. Each one has a unique talent that sets apart Miss Macie in that category. From Photography, Social Media, Merchandising, and Customer Service.

I feel there are many things that set us apart. The most praised part of our brand is our scripture on the bottom of the sole of each pair of Miss Macie. This alone has changed the lives of so many women and gave them hope when no one was there to hold their hand or in the privacy of their pain. A simple word of truth and hope!!!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love Colorado and it is where I have raised my family, but unfortunately, I have not found Colorado to be very encouraging or inviting to Western design manufacturing or start-up companies in this industry. Colorado is all about the outdoor and recreational industry and it is hard to sway people from that and open up their eyes to what we, as designers of new, upcoming brands are promoting. I feel our city does not embrace the diversity of unique businesses that are based here. It seems they focus on the same types of companies to feature that have to do with going back to again, the outdoor and recreational industry. However, I have lived here for 37 years and have been able to be successful with all my endeavors. I always tell people who are pursuing their dreams, it doesn’t matter where your office is, as long as you are focused and stay in your own lane YOU WILL be blessed and succeed.
