Meet Lindsay Ramirez of Elle Consulting in Littleton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Ramirez.

Lindsay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My life has not always been filled with roses and butterflies, but I am learning that happiness is a choice and worth the hard work. On the outside, I probably appeared to have a good life being raised in the suburbs of Denver, CO. Our family was surrounded by new development, schools, and other families who had plenty of money. My home environment as a child can be described as financially strained, domestically abusive, toxic, chaotic, angry, and dysfunctional. I buried myself in school and activities as a child and excelled in them.

Doing well in those areas were my means of receiving love. I continued to progress through high-school, and always admired my best friend’s mom, who was a CFO of multiple property management companies. She was my definition of success: classy, elegant, happy, financially comfortable, sophisticated, educated, independent, and a provider for her family. I wanted to follow her path, so I asked her how she did it, and she told me she went to school for accounting. My high school was offering accounting classes, so I took the classes to see if it would be something I might want to explore in college. I hated it when I started. It did not make any sense; I was lost, confused, and felt incapable of understanding the concepts. After several months of struggling to comprehend, a few lightbulbs went on, the material began to click, and I fell in love with it.

I continued onto college to pursue a degree in Accounting. While I excelled in school, my personal life took a dramatic turn when I discovered I was pregnant at age 19. By the grace of a power greater than myself, I continued to graduate college with honors while working nearly full-time to raise and support my daughter. I found a good job out of college that supported my education, so I continued to pass the CPA exam and get a Master’s in Accounting. My education has allowed me so many opportunities in my career space to learn and see so many things. I love all things business and watching people come together as teams to grow and support one another.

In 2015, I found myself repeating the same cycle I was raised in when I was in a relationship that was alcoholic and abusive. Sparing the details of my reality at that time, I had reached my rock-bottom relationally, emotionally, financially, physically, personally, and spiritually. I sought help through a few different avenues including therapy and working with a couple non-profit organizations who dealt specifically with alcoholism and domestic abuse. Through those avenues, I received guidance, support, and education around my reality and upbringing. With the help of some very good people, I was able to leave the relationship and begin my recovery process. Facing trauma of abuse caused me to face my entire life and look at my own behaviors in trying to change and stop the cycle. The result of this long introspective journey caused my values and expectations to shift. Over the course of that period, I realized I needed to start walking in directions that were fueling me and filling me, which was the reason for starting my business in 2018 and quitting my full-time job.

I formed this organization out of several revelations and to be of greater assistance and service to others both in business and in our communities outside of the workplace. I have a deep desire to help businesses be their best by operating efficiently and effectively. I have an even deeper desire to be of greater assistance and service to our community by helping others impacted by domestic violence and substance abuse. The formation of this organization is creating space to help more businesses, which in turn, helps Elle Consulting create more employment opportunities for people in need of second chances. It also helps us donate more freely of our time and monetary contributions towards this important effort.

In less than two years, our business has grown faster than I anticipated, and I am employing a team of amazing talent to help carry out this vision. Our mission is to give back to the community by means of what we are able to generate in helping businesses be their best. We work with various organizations doing all sorts of accounting and finance outsourcing and consulting. Our goal in working with all organizations is to help them be better while minimizing costs. Through our innovative and creative approaches to streamline business processes, we can better align organizations to achieve their goals.

I am wearing so many hats these days, and the work is non-stop, but I would not have it any other way, and I believe I am doing my job when I am helping organizations and people realize their full potential.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Overcoming obstacles is never smooth. My life was turbulent for many years. It has, in fact, been a very hard road that I have struggled to walk on at various points of my life. I have cried, I have been scared, I have had setbacks and mountains to climb over. I have had some days where it was all I could do to put one step in front of the other and take things one moment at a time. I have been denied, judged, ridiculed, laughed at, projected at, and talked about. I have been emotionally shattered, physically broken, and in financial ruin. No matter the fear, the anger, the pain, or anything else that has come my way, I can silence those feelings long enough to tap into something deeper within that tells me to keep walking in the directions I choose to walk in. It is my belief that overcoming struggles of any kind is what pushes us into new directions and opens doors we would have never thought possible without walking through them.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Ell Consulting – what should we know?
Elle Consulting is a finance and accounting firm who partners with our clients for the long-term to help manage such functions within organizations in a way that allows companies to be adaptive and dynamic. We are interested in building trust, results, and innovative solutions to problems. We are huge on utilizing technology and communication to streamline and enhance accounting and finance processes so more time can be spent analyzing the success of an organization and eliminate or reduce costs where not needed. We work smarter, not harder, and pass those savings and efficiencies onto the organizations we strive to help.

Everything about our model sets us apart from our competition, from our dedication and service to our communities, to our care and empathy towards people struggling from domestic abuse and substance issues, to our dynamic and creative approach to problem solving. We are also born and raised in Denver, quite literally. We do not thrive unless we are helping people and organizations thrive. We are not temporary help, we are not a staffing agency, we are not accounting contractors, and we are not disposable. We are experts in our arena, and we partner with organizations and people who are in alignment with our core values over the long-term to provide growth, stability, and solution. We are the underdogs, doing our parts to make this world a better place to be in, which is the only way we realize our own potential.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
There are too many people to count who deserve the credit in helping me get to where I am at today. I have had spiritual teachers, family members, colleagues, bosses, friends, mentors, sponsors, and other angels help me in both small and monumental ways throughout my life, and especially over these last several years through my own recovery process.
