Meet Luke Gottlieb of Victor Of Valencia Photography in RiNo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Gottlieb.

Luke, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up, my Mom had always had cameras around. You could say that inspired me a bit without me really knowing it. It really wasn’t until after college that I really discovered my passion for photography. There were always the times that I would shoot on camping trips and travel trips, but when I discovered my love for portraits and fashion, that is when things really took off. I used to drive into the mountains with my friend Amber. She worked at the Free People store and had a knack for styling, so we really had fun creating the images together. One thing led to another and as I became more connected in the industry everything just naturally fell into place. Flash forward three years later and I had quit my job to become a full-time photographer.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think with anything you do, there are always obstacles that you face, but it’s the persistence and trust that keeps you pushing through. With any small business, there are the extremes, especially early on. I would be lying to you if I were to say that there aren’t obstacles even now, but I think that is just life.

Nothing rewarding comes without being shaken up during the process. As it pertains to my photography, I would say the biggest challenges were the act of staying inspired when there is so much media around you all the time, learning how to run a business and learning how to capture an honest moment in a photograph. There are so many more, but these are the ones that comes to mind.

Please tell us about Victor Of Valencia Photography.
I am a fashion and lifestyle photographer. I travel and capture images all over the spectrum from fashion brand campaigns, social content, modeling agency portfolios to international weddings. What I’m most known for is my fashion work since my career really started in that. It’s what I’m most passionate about. The way I edit photographs has really set me apart and I would say that I strive to produce a strong or at least a notable narrative in each photograph. Storytelling is so important and when I can do that successfully for myself for a client, there is no better feeling.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I believe in learning through the process, so I would say I wouldn’t have changed anything. Though, if I absolutely had to, I would have honed in on some of those basic business skills way early on. It’s a constant learning curve. I would also stress the importance of connections and networking. I gained those skills later on, but so many things in life come down to your own determination and relationship building skills.
