Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Waggoner.
Madison, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Food, especially healthy food has been important in my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up as an athlete and having struggled with various health-related issues I came to know the healing power of food.
When I was introduced to Ayurveda in 2013 during my yoga teacher training, I thought it was a system that prescribed different diets for specific mind-body types. Come to find out, it is one of the world’s first holistic healing systems. It is much more than what kind of food to eat for your body.
Ayurveda emphasizes that HOW you eat is equally important as what you eat! Mindful eating seems revolutionary, right? Well, Ayurveda is a 5000-year-old science, so not exactly. This ancient healing system is extraordinary to maintain high levels of health and well-being, but it is also incredibly powerful to heal from disease.
Upon learning about Ayurveda, many of my life paths converged. My sincere love for food, healthy living, movement, nature and natural remedies came together. All of these facets that I had deemed important to living a vibrant and healthy life were part of this life science called Ayurveda. It all made so much sense to me!
I have poured my heart and soul into studying and teaching both yoga and Ayurveda. I am constantly fascinated and in awe by how much wisdom and potential for personal growth both sciences house. Together, they have changed my life tremendously and it is humbling to be able to share with others.
In 2015, I created Shri Wellness as a vehicle to support clients to live a purposeful and radiant life. I share my passion for yoga and Ayurveda with others through one-on-one sessions, retreats and corporate wellness presentations. In December 2018, I launched a tool, the Veda Jar and Ayurvedic cookbook, to make healthy eating possible on-the-go.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have definitely been some smooth stretches along the road, but starting a business is challenging! As a solopreneur, I wear multiple hats in any given day. However, I love that each day provides new opportunities to learn and grow.
One of the biggest struggles over the past few years is not having colleagues or a business partner to bounce ideas off of or to work through difficult problems with. It has opened my eyes to the importance of cultivating a community and relationships to support the journey. I am immensely grateful to my colleagues, family, friends, and mentor who have all supported me along the way!
Shri Wellness – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Shri Wellness empowers go-getter women to find lasting mind-body health, balance, and joy.
The work that I do is sustainable meaning that it isn’t another diet to try for a while. It is about finding a diet and cultivating skills to uncover what really works for YOU in the long-term, and is adaptable to different times of year and different seasons of your life. Just as your body is unlike anyone else’s body – your journey is unlike anyone else’s journey. Ayurveda is personalized medicine.
I offer a holistic and integrative approach to care for your body, mind and spirit.
My clients feel their best when they find purpose and meaning in life, care for their body with proper diet and lifestyle, and are mentally balanced and strong.
The reality is that you can’t successfully treat mental, physical or spiritual health separately. This is what sets Shri Wellness apart – an integrative and personalized approach to health and well-being.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
I love the people of Denver! Everyone is so friendly here. Also, nature is immensely healing for me so I love the multitude of parks and quick accessibility to the mountains.
Traffic is a bummer, but as much as I can I walk or ride my bike. Go green!
