Meet Marcos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcos.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a father before anything else. A proud Colorado native and have been a professional DJ for ten years now. I have always loved music and being the center of attention since I was a child so being a DJ was a natural fit lol. It all started with me teaming up with my good friend/mentor DJ Dings. He showed me the ropes and even lent me some of his gear for my first couple of dj gigs. We was a team for a few years rocking bars all over Denver. I later started to do my own thing and really got into the local hip hop scene rocking shows and working with local artists. Thats where I really made a name for myself and have been lucky enough to dj over 100 shows including some national artists like TOO SHORT, SNOW THA PRODUCT, TALIB KWALI & THE LOX. I also got into the internet radio/podcast world hosting music talk shows, doing interviews & dj mix shows. Me and Dj Dings teamed back up and created DINGS&COS RADIO and that is something I’m very proud of. After that ended, I teamed up with Lance Mijares and TURNT UP TV and have been with them ever since. Hosting mix shows doing interviews and creating content for TUTV. I dj clubs, private events, concerts and school dances. And not just in Colorado. I have been lucky enough to dj in Chicago, Vegas, Nebraska, and Wyoming.

Has it been a smooth road?
I think my biggest challenge has always been being respected and recognized by the dj community. I say that cuz I got a real late jump into the game, most djs have been doing it for 20+ years rocking parties with turntables and crates of records. Other than that, I think I go through the regular struggle that every other dj and independent artist goes through. Fonding the balance of following your dream and being a responsible adult.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Well, I pride my self on my versatility as a dj I can dj any event from a kid’s birthday party to a fancy wedding to a corporate fundraiser to a straight-up Hip Hop concert.

I have all the equipment I need to dj any event at any time.

The one thing I think people would say that separates me from others is my professionalism and my desire to see others get there shine. I’m always trying to give a platform to local artists to get their music out there for the masses whether thats doing an interview on TUTV or playing there music on mix shows or at big concerts I get to dj. Also, I have been fortunate to take a few Colorado artists out of state to perform.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love dam near everything about our city! I love the pride we have. I love that we are going into a big city but still have that small-town feel. I look at Denver as the city no one sees coming but once we are on everyone will be like “wow Denver is the shit…I thought all they did was smoke weed and ski” lol.

My one big dislike is mainly with the local music scene. I feel like we still have the ” crab in a bucket” mentality and instead if all really working together to get the whole city on, we are stepping on each other.
