Today we’d like to introduce you to Marla McFadden.
In 2016 Marla launched Second Nature Gourmet and recently acquired ownership of Fly Away Gourmet which is a catering service tailored to busy flight crews. Fly Away Gourmet provides customized, in-flight dining experience and is a division of Second Nature Gourmet.
Marla is thrilled to share her nationally-learned skills and innovative cuisine with the community and support the local food movement in the Vail Valley. Since a young age, cooking has been like second nature to Marla and she is excited to share her talents and drive for locally and thoughtfully produced foods to locals along with visitors with our beautiful mountain community.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Yes fairly smooth, I would say. Building clientele over the years has been steady and great.
Please tell us about Second Nature Gourmet.
Second Nature Gourmet is a full-service catering company that focuses on sustainability and locally sourcing. In addition to full-service catering we offer delivered catering (which has been great during the Covid crisis) as we were already prepared for this style of catering. As the owner, I most proud of producing delicious healthy foods that have been sourced as locally as possible. Offering plenty of options for specialty diets also.
I think what sets us apart is the flexibility of being able to do delivered catering as well as full service. We have an online menu for easy weekly ordering with changing options every week.
