Meet Megan Stark of Stark The Label

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Stark.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Megan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My love for making jewelry started when I was about ten years old, while I never wore jewelry because of sports, I always had fun making gifts for friends. My family would go to Lake Powell, Utah, every summer and one year. My mom brought me a ton of crafts to keep me entertained. After every trip, I’d return to school with necklaces for all my friends. I stopped crafting as much when I got to college, but during my senior year at the University of Colorado, something drew me to attending a gem show while I was visiting Los Angeles. From that moment, I returned home with a lot of turquoise for personal projects when one of my roommates mentioned I should consider selling it. With my friend’s support and orders, I started my Etsy store in 2013! Today Stark The Label offers wholesale to boutiques all over the US, specializes in bridal jewelry, and still has some fun expansion plans for the future!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being the owner and designer, it’s always a struggle with wearing all the hats. It’s a balancing act with making sure your disperse your time evenly. Creative blocks are a regular thing over here! So it’s important for me to also step away and experience new things or take a trip before diving into a new collection and it’s promotion cycle.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Stark The Label – what should we know?
Stark The Label, is a jewelry and accessories shop for the everyday girl after a modern boho look. We specialize in fairly priced, easy to wear delicate jewelry with a mix of stones and metals. What sets us apart most would be our pricing is always competitive and our quality of stones are incredible. We source them primarily from Brazil and India.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
First off, my family and friends for always saying they like my designs, they are too good to me. Always showing up for pop-up shops and telling their friends! Most importantly, my fiancé John, who will stay up late helping with large orders or taking packages to the post office to ensure our packages arrive early or right on time. He truly goes above and beyond to help with my success. I’d also like to credit the boutique owners in Denver, from Mainstream Boutique to Pink’s Denver to Denver Darling, they all have encouraged me through feedback on best sellers and always checking in with me to receive new designs. It’s been such a fun experience to have a big support team and family.
