Meet Melissa DeRenzo of Blossoming Lotus Yoga in Northglenn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa DeRenzo.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Melissa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was raised Catholic but in my teens years, I felt that Catholicism was not for me. However, it did give me a firm Foundation in my spiritual beliefs now. I have always felt a deep connection to the Divine/Universe/GOD through the natural world. Fast forward to my 30’s where I found yoga and my meditation teacher in 2010 and that is where the juiciness began. I became a yoga teacher in 2013, a Silver Sneakers teacher in 2014 and a reiki master in 2015. My Love for helping people fueled my desire to learn these modalities.

 In 2018 I became certified through the Vibration Sound Association to assist clients in vibration sound therapy… singing bowls on and around the body. Becoming a vst (vibration sound therapist) was the icing on the cake for helping people!!!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My struggles have been self-doubt. Always looking outside myself for answers and approval, starting from childhood into my 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Once I found a yoga and meditation teacher, I began to undo the programming that I wasn’t good enough. It hasn’t been easy and I am still working on it now as I enter my 50’s this year. I suppose that is why I enjoy helping people so much! There is light at the end of the tunnel!

My LLC is under Blossoming Lotus Yoga, but my Facebook page is Blossoming Lotus Yoga, Reiki and Sound Vibration Therapy. A big title I know!! I do not have a yoga studio, though I do practice Reiki and sound vibration therapy out of my home. I teach yoga at the Northglenn Rec, the Westminster rec and Breath of Life in Commerce City. It makes me feel proud that people find me on Google and when they experience vibration sound therapy for themselves, they are astonished at how amazing they feel afterward. It is a growing modality in the self-care world! What sets me apart from some others… not all… is that I also do sound baths in and around the north Denver area. That part of my business is showing the most growth as people come to experience and see for themselves how amazing they feel energetically afterward.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is measured by joyful encounters, as people experience what I have to offer! I am also a custodian in an elementary school in Adams 12. I have a lot of different jobs. It fills my cup to make people happy and feel good. To me, that is a success!
