Meet Michelle Taylor of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Taylor.

Michelle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My mother owns a boutique real estate brokerage back home in Fort Walton Beach, FL, so naturally I entered the real estate industry shortly after high school in 2009. I worked with my mother part-time while also attending college, but it wasn’t long before I chose to solely focus on real estate and in particular, I focused on investments in the vacation and 2nd home markets in Santa Rosa Beach/30A, Florida. Growing up in the panhandle of Florida was a blessing and something I’ll always be thankful for, but I had always known I wanted to be in Colorado, so in 2016 I left everything behind and moved to Boulder where I worked out of the LIV Sotheby’s International Realty office downtown before moving over to our SPIRE location in Downtown Denver in August of 2019.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For most real estate brokers, the road to success isn’t smooth- especially when you’re first starting out. My struggles along the way have been mostly financial, but I also live with depression (people may be shocked to know that about me because my personality wouldn’t suggest it. I’m quite out-going and fun). When I decided to start selling in Colorado, I was living with my then-boyfriend and I had a good amount of money saved. But life happens and that relationship ended, so I had to use my savings getting a new place and starting over.

Selling real estate requires high levels of optimism, so getting started in the industry after a hard breakup was really tough- and being broke didn’t help. But one thing I’ve learned about myself over the years is I’m relentless in the pursuit of my goals- nothing can stop me or knock me off course once I know it to my core that what I’m pursuing is possible. I’ve overcome 100% of the challenges I’ve faced and that’s what keeps me infectiously optimistic about the future.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I am a Broker Associate at LIV Sotheby’s International Realty and while I specialize in Downtown Denver condos, I also service buyers and sellers all over the Denver Metro area and Boulder. Right now, I mostly work with primary home buyers but I also have experience working with investors to purchase long-term and/or short-term rentals.

While Sotheby’s International Realty is the industry leader in luxury home sales (properties over $1.000,000) we still service all price points. In fact, almost 42% of the properties we sell are under $500K and nearly 40% of our sales are properties between $500K – $999K. At LIV Sotheby’s, we take a lot of pride in providing a million-dollar service no matter the price point. So whether your home is worth $300,000 or $3,000,000, your property will receive the same quality of marketing materials, care, and exposure.

One thing that sets us apart from our competitors is that we have an award-winning and globally recognized marketing department. We are able to provide the most sophisticated and far-reaching marketing for every property and the most advanced online presentation and technological tools for meeting the modern needs of our clients. Only one company can be the best. With unparalleled exposure and unmatched levels of expertise, I believe the best is LIV Sotheby’s International Realty.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
No big changes or plans in the works, professionally. But personally speaking, I am planning another 2-week backpacking trip to Europe to hike the Tour du Mont Blanc again. I hiked the trail in August of 2018 and haven’t been able to get it off my mind since so going back feels right. If you’ve never heard of it, please look it up about 100 miles through the Alps of France, Italy and Switzerland. The hiking is brutal (about 30K feet of elevation gain over the 100 miles) but the views are unreal, the mountain huts are unlike anywhere else, and you meet from around the world, which is my favorite part. I’m really looking forward to this trip.
