Today we’d like to introduce you to Micole G. Liberato.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Micole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a portrait photographer, born and raised in the Philippines, and now based in Denver. To be honest, never in a million years would I have imagined writing that sentence (the photography part, and I still get a charge out of getting to write/say it out loud).
I practiced as a speech language pathologist for several years both abroad and in the US, and even obtained my master’s degree in Dallas. But my love affair with photography began way before that when I was sixteen. It started as a hobby, with me borrowing my dad’s film camera until finally, my parents got me my very first digital camera in high school. I was so enthralled with the process of creating art and playing with light. I was addicted to the transformation of putting different elements together and creating something unique and beautiful. I wanted to capture these moments in time for all time.
So a few years ago, I made the big decision to transition from speech pathology to photography full-time. I now run a growing portrait photography business and studio in this amazing city!
Has it been a smooth road?
The journey to where I am now was not a smooth one. The camera has always been like an extension of my body, with photography being second nature to me. But I had zero experience in starting and running a real business. I had to start from scratch, and obsessively spent hundreds and hundreds of hours on education, research, and learning from many entrepreneurs. Growing pains included a lot of trial and error, and making several (necessary) mistakes. Currently, I am in the process of creating a new brand within the studio, which has been challenging but so thrilling at the same time – this will be a specialty sub-brand focused on empowering women, their beauty, and the art of the female form. More on this soon!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Micole Photography specializes in creating magazine-style, legacy portraits for everyday people (think Vogue/ Vanity Fair/ GQ style). My artistic process and photos are inspired by elements of beauty, fashion, art, and cinema. My goal is to empower and celebrate individuals and their unique journey through an unforgettable portrait experience.
We are a full service studio. We will NOT just meet at a park, take pictures for a few minutes, and call it a day. From the initial consultation, wardrobe planning, professional hair and makeup, posing guidance during your shoot, your reveal and ordering appointment, to the final pick up of your album/prints/wall art, we will be there EVERY step of the way. You don’t have to worry about a thing, all you need to do is enjoy your shoot day and your photos.
Lastly, I am proud to say that we only offer high quality, heirloom photography products and work with the best professional labs both here in the US and Europe!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I keep falling in love with this city everyday. The weather is amazing – I love how the sun is almost always out. And of course, THE MOUNTAINS. I enjoy hiking and spending time in nature and I am so grateful the mountains are just a short drive away. As for dislikes, I would say that I’m not a fan of the never-ending traffic along 70. But compared to the daily traffic in Manila, I can’t really complain.
