Meet Connor Dube of Mile High Mentors and ActiveBlogs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Connor Dube.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Born and raised a Colorado native, I started my first business at seven years old selling rocks I took from my parent’s yard and painted with patriotic symbols to raise funds for the 9/11 rebuild efforts. I donated every penny I made, and have been fixated with entrepreneurship and giving back since.

Throughout high school I’ve gone on to start a handful of other businesses, donating my time to non-profit efforts and even building an eight-figure marketing department while earning my bachelor’s degree at Metro State University of Denver, where post-graduation, I helped the marketing department develop their currently used curriculum on Social Selling.

Over the years I’ve trained hundreds of sales and marketing professionals ranging from high school students to baby boomers on the principles of social selling, and have been featured on top B2B industry podcasts and resources all over the country.

My current focus is my two-year-old top Colorado podcast, Mile High Mentors, which we’re developing into a unique two-day live experience and conference in 2020 in the Mile High City, and my business partnership with my father at ActiveBlogs, an industry-leading agency focused on LinkedIn social selling strategy and content marketing for complex, B2B industries.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing in life is smooth, not even the flattest of surfaces, when blown up and magnified significantly, are actually very very sharp and rigid. I’ve faced massive push back and setbacks from the market, friends, and even family in building to where I am today.

Some of my alternative struggles include facing immense depressive episodes and anxiety attacks throughout most of my life due to unrealized health issues until later diagnosed.

Also, not following the traditional pathway of most of my peers where the pressures of partying and relaxing on weekends were always a psychological battle, even to this day, I tend to stay in and focus on building my empire. I remember graduation day of college I decided instead of walking I wanted to close a sale for our business, so I stayed in our office and called and called people – and did exactly what I set out for and closed a large sale for the company, while my fellow peers walked for graduation.

Please tell us more about your work. What should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I love how although there are thousands of podcasts out there, Mile High Mentors has been a really unique medium for connecting local professionals, students, and entrepreneurs together while highlighting how powerful of a mentorship, leadership and influence community Colorado has. The way we interview and run the show is unique other podcasts industry wide, and, that we are turning it into one of the most innovative professional conference experiences to be hosted in Denver.

As far as ActiveBlogs goes, what’s been most notable in that business is even though we’re considered a marketing agency, of which there are many even in Denver, we’ve done a great job at focusing on what we do best and who we do it best for. Rather than falling into the noise of “full service, do it all for everyone.”

The company has been around for 19 years and is completely family-owned and operated. Best decision I ever made! An interesting event occurred when the market was disrupted by cheap explosion of content marketing our business was at risk of disappearing in the span of 12 months. Out of the struggle we ended up tying in our traditional services with a more innovative approach to B2B sales and in a short period of time have made a noticeable name for ourselves with IT and Tech companies who’ve struggled to turn their lackluster LinkedIn results into more high-dollar, high-value accounts through social selling services, consulting, and training.

Although there’s a lot of competition in the LinkedIn space as well we’ve approached it in such an innovative way for these highly complex industries that it’s completely separated ourselves from others out there, who haven’t made the in-house investments in our team and processes we have.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me means absolute freedom. I don’t care about the money, the power, the shiny objects if I cannot have complete freedom to enjoy those things when I want, how I want, and with whomever I want.

People think it’s not possible to “have it all” and I believe that’s an excuse and easy opt-out for not pursuing it. My success story HAS to include abundance in all areas of my life – my relationships, my health, AND my wealth/businesses. Without focusing on abundance in these areas, how could I ever fully give back to others in a way that makes a lasting impact?

Also, success does not include accomplishing what you’re able to accomplish…it’s about accomplishing what you can’t. I always set my goals much higher than I ever think possible. Most tend to set their goals to what they think they are capable of, meet that goal, and feel dissatisfied. I’d rather die and come up short consistently pursuing what I believe to be outlandish, but in actuality, is my full potential.
