Today we’d like to introduce you to Mindi Alexander.
Hi Mindi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always tinkered with creative things as an outlet although my degree is in Accounting. I am grateful for that degree which I can touch on more later, but my creative outlet turned into my passion project this past year.
You see, I’ve always used this outlet when I’ve had bad days with my lupus or fibromyalgia. But this time it was different, it wasn’t about me, it was about my sister. She was diagnosed with cancer. My beautiful sister, who is supposed to be by my side, was told she had stage 4 Colon cancer. So that is when everything changed. She immediately started chemotherapy.
I had my little machines at home and I offered to make her a few shirts for her treatments and it ended up with me making most of her shirts for her treatment days. If you’ve never made someone smile who is going through such a battle, you should try. That’s how Graphink Fusion evolved. My business is literally a dedication to her. My husband is a huge support of the business and her as well. It has grown some, but I am striving to grow it more.
I love doing custom orders. I do a lot of custom cancer tee’s or even just custom tees for people in general as they return to me over and over. They clearly like to smile and laugh. And I like knowing I’ve helped brighten their day.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been challenging at times, but I like challenges. I dedicate my evenings and weekends to this as I work a FT job and that is a huge priority to me as well. The struggle I am learning is getting traffic to my website.
I’ve joined TikTok and Facebook. Social Media is a struggle for me, but little-by-little I am learning it. So I take tips in stride because I feel like I could use them. In-fact my sister is a huge help with my TikTok account.
My goal is to be able to donate this time next year to three organizations. Cancer research, Lupus Research, No kill shelters. But I need more sales for that to happen.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work as a Compliance Officer helping to ensure folks are housed in the affordable housing sector for Colorado. It’s an honor to do what I do everyday. I pinch myself when I wake up. I live to work two dream jobs. And I work with an amazing work family over where I do.
My accounting degree led me to compliance, which led me to my career where I am. Not many people can wake up and say that they are truly happy with their work. I can. I get to. I have the best of the best.
Not just that, but when I am flaring up for my lupus or fibro, they care. When everything was going on my with sister, they took an active role in caring. And not just that but my husband was in a really bad car accident a few years back and they truly cared about that as well. Most places would not.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
