Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly McConnell.
Molly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Upon graduating from college with a degree in Women’s & Gender Studies, I quickly surrendered to India and slowly surrendered to myself. I literally graduated early and got on a plane to India by myself. Somewhere along the way, I accidentally became a traveler, discovering the power and patience of watching the Universe unfold. During this time, I received my 500-hour RYT (registered yoga teacher) certificate and began to learn more about the magic of Ayurveda — India’s holistic healing science. I had never found a system of healing that resonated so deeply. The more I learned to understand and appreciate myself through this new lens, the more I felt called to share it with others.
In those moments of discovery, Ayurveda just made so much sense to me… it is accessible and inclusive and kind… and frankly, when it comes to restoring the body to its natural balanced state, it works. Now, after all these years of studying to become an Ayurvedic Practitioner, Ayurveda continues to inspire my entire way of being in the world. My practical and clinical studies led me to Boulder, Colorado where I graduated from Alandi Ashram and was fortunate enough to meet my dear friend, and now business partner, Sierra Brashear!
Sierra and I founded our joint Ayurvedic wellness practice, Cultivate Balance, with the intention of making the wisdom Ayurveda accessible, which is why we offer workshops, webinars, and online education — in addition sliding scale pricing for in-person consultations. It is our belief that self-care is a radical act — when you are vibrant and awake, you have the clarity and energy to show up for what you believe in. We want that for all of our clients and have found that sharing Ayurveda is one way to help them get there.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building a business definitely has its challenges! I have learned more in the last two years of my life than I could have ever imagined. The process is very humbling.
All I can say is.. I’ve never worked harder, been happier or loved myself more than this moment in my life. My gratitude for getting to offer Ayurveda to the world in this lifetime far outweighs the obstacles that arise.
Every time I feel exhausted or overwhelmed, I remind myself that it’s just another opportunity to drink some tea, get a good night’s sleep and wake up the next day with new inspiration to level up. It also makes all the difference to have ongoing support and collaboration of an incredible business partner.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
The simplest way to sum it up is: FEEL GOOD. DO GOOD. My co-founder, Sierra and I, believe that the revolution begins within. When you cultivate balance within your own body and mind, you are able to bring more harmony to your family, community and the planet.
Our practice, Cultivate Balance, provides personal wellness consultations, webinars, workshops, goodness guides, and online courses that support our clients to nurture themselves so they can nurture the world. Rooted in Ayurveda, our wellness systems weave ancient wisdom for holistic healing into the modern context. We seek to ensure this powerful knowledge is accessible to all who desire to embark on a journey of renewal. As an advocate of body-positivity, self-love and the realness of an individual’s experience, our entire approach to business and client interactions are shaped by these values.
Our approach to wellness invites a deep understanding and appreciation for the individual, offering self-care practices that inspire people to celebrate their strengths and overcome their challenges…so they can show up to do their life’s work.
