Meet Montaser Aidah of On The Grind in Aurora

Today we’d like to introduce you to Montaser Aidah.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Montaser. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I got into the entertainment industry around 2012 and realized there’s a lot more to it then just djing its all a business. No-one wanted to book me when I first got my equipment so in order for me to actually DJ I had to rent out my own venue, partner with a promoter, and basically become an event coordinator. From there On The Grind was born and I just did business the right way, never cheated anyone, and always gave everything 110%.

I had to break down doors and do things that other people were not willing to do in order to make a name for myself. Thankfully all those years of experience taught me a lot and allowed me to DJ/promote for many big-name artists such as 2 Chainz, Young Thug, Pusha T, A Boogie wit Da Hoodie, Blueface, Kehlani, G Eazy, August Alsina, Lil Bibby, Young M.A, G Herbo and so much more. I currently am able to make a living through On The Grind which provides clothing, promotional services, and some of the biggest events/concerts in Colorado.

I got started doing the clothing because we have a dope vision behind our brand which is to grind in an honorable way. I just want the world to feel motivated by our brand and allow them to do good things because of it. Being able to see people wear your clothes that have a great message behind it is a feeling you just can’t explain. There will be a lot of great releases rolling out in 2020, and we can’t wait to share it with you all. We currently have our clothing in Notorious Lifestyle at aurora mall, Culture Street in Northfield mall, and online at onthegrind100.com. We will also have our clothing in a couple of other states as soon as our next batch drops.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being an entrepreneur it is always a bumpy road, and the deeper you get into it the more you have to learn before going on to the next phase. The hardest struggle at first was getting my name out there and using my resources to get me to where I wanted to be. Like I mentioned my first event I got to DJ at was because I rented out the venue myself as well as find the promoters, and that wasn’t even the half of it. When the day of the event came I didn’t know how to work the sound system properly, I did not know we had to book security for events, where to even find them, and how much they even cost. I just went in with a game plan of how to produce the event. Doing everything by myself was very stressful and a huge learning curve. Thankfully everything was a success, people had fun, and we actually made some money!

But there were other times unfortunately where I had to learn the hard way of doing business with certain people. I had some venues cancel my event beforehand and even the day of the show because of miscommunication so that taught me how to properly communicate in every aspect. I had people try to short my money at times, so I learned how to secure the finances properly to ensure I was compensated properly. My biggest thing I learned this year is to say no more often in order to value myself and more importantly my brand.

Just like anything in life you live and you learn, and if you want to take a risk do your research, and make an educated decision.

On The Grind – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
So I myself am a DJ and I own On The Grind which provides clothing, promotional services, event coordination, and management. I am known for doing business properly, getting the job done, and going above/beyond expectations.

I am most proud of as a company from where we started at little venues that only carried 75 people to now packing out 700 capacity venues by doing it our way. People believing in our vision which is to grind and do it in an honorable way. Being able to go out and see people I do not know wearing my clothing makes me very happy and I can’t wait to take it to the next level.

What sets me apart from others is I am always willing to learn and go out of my comfort zone whenever needed. When something needs to get done there are no excuses, gotta go out and get it handled, give everything 110%. If there isn’t a way, gotta find a way, no shortcuts either.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success with being able to do what you want, whenever you want. Setting yourself up in order to be financially free is key to this. So until then, we continue to grind hard, do the right thing, and let God show us the way.
