Meet Natasha Rigg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Rigg.

Natasha Rigg

Hi Natasha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a geologist turned photographer and videographer (turned family genealogist too). I started in photography during my geology field days with a little point-and-shoot Kodak camera in the late 90s. It wasn’t until I had my first child in 2010 that I started to learn the ins and outs of photography.

I loved documenting my own family and having these memories to share with my kids as they grew older. In 2016, I decided to start my business and offer gorgeous family photos to other families too. Since then, I have expanded into offering short family videos as well.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are lots of learning curves in running your own business and this is made more difficult in figuring it all out by yourself.

I’ve developed a pretty extensive network of photographers over the years and that helps, as I now have a robust sounding board and some great friends to bounce ideas off of.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in families at all stages of life, from maternity and newborn to young families, high school seniors, and weddings.

I find great joy in getting to know my clients and photographing them in their daily lives and during their celebratory milestones. I think what sets me apart from others is that I revel in storytelling – whether through photos or videos. I love to tell the story of people’s lives so they have these memories to pass down to their kids.

What’s next?
Recently, I’ve added a new offering recording family interviews on video. These Legacy Films are an opportunity for family or friends to get together and interview each other.

It’s a wonderful keepsake. I was inspired to offer these sessions because of the stories my grandmother wrote out and passed down to my cousins and me. They provide such a sense of place history and belonging.
