Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Jackson.
Nicholas, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a native of Chicago and had resided in the state of Illinois for all of my life until a couple of years ago I decided to move out of state for the first time to Colorado and immerse myself in the natural beauty of the landscape here. The move was really exciting and a little nerve-wracking at the same time, but eventually, I got adjusted.
I had always been interested in both photography/arts so last year I had decided to get my first digital camera and shortly after that my first business was born. Along the way, I have also been disciplining myself in certain areas in order to improve my craft day by day whether that’s watching a video online or doing some reading. Being able to express myself with this has been a positive outlet for me and I hope going forward I can inspire people through my art.
Has it been a smooth road?
Finding a true passion had been a little bit of a struggle for me as I was growing up despite having a wide array of interests. However since I’ve picked up my photography and art again, I feel deep down that this is what my passion is and I only plan on cultivating it, even more, going forward.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Currently I specialize in editorial, fashion, fitness, and portrait work for clients and brands. On my own time, I shoot urban/landscape as I like not only shooting the incredible skyscrapers or skylines, but also capturing the random moments that you see in a large city. That is the one thing that keeps me doing this specific genre. So far the thing I’m most proud about is how quickly I’ve been able to network and meet new people. It’s helped me to step outside my comfort zone as a person since I consider myself a bit more on the introverted side. Working with other creatives has also been great as well. Since I’m still currently carving out my own style, I’m still figuring out what’s going to be the main thing that sets me apart from other photographers, it’s just one more fun thing about the journey at the end of the day.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see myself progressing even further as a photographer/artist as I learn more skills in general. One thing I know I have to keep in mind is the ever-changing industry going forward when it comes to the business side of things, as well as the ongoing progression of the technological side when it comes to cameras. As I’ve been learning, being able to adapt to said changes will ultimately keep everything thriving for me.
