Meet Nick Lee of Lee Spirits Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Lee.

Nick, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Lee Spirits Company is an award-winning Colorado-based distillery whose mission is to create the finest products to empower spirit-lovers to enjoy authentic cocktails. Lee Spirits products can be found across Colorado, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. The organization creates award winning pre-prohibition American dry gin, flavored gins, fine liqueurs, whiskey, vodka and ready-to-drink canned cocktails.

In 2013, Lee Spirits Company founders and cousins Ian and Nick Lee had an idea to develop and manufacture the finest gin in Colorado and the United States along with accompanying liqueurs that would fit into classic cocktail recipes exactly as originally written.

The organization has two tasting rooms, one is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado and their second location is based in Monument Colorado.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
2020 was a challenge for almost every business in Colorado and across the United States. We are grateful to have remained in-business while expanding our ready to drink canned cocktail portfolio and also opening our new manufacturing facility in Monument, Co.

Our team did want to pitch-in and support others while the pandemic grew, that is why we converted our distillery into a hand sanitizer manufacturing plant for several months to create commercial grade sanitizer that supported organizations working with first responders and the construction industry. We also were able to supply thousands of bottles of hand sanitizer to the public for free.

Please tell us about Lee Spirits Company.
We are a privately owned distillery based in Colorado Springs and Monument, Co. Lee Spirits specializes in creating some of the nation’s best American dry Gin, flavored gins, vodka, whiskey and ready to drink canned cocktails. Our products are distributed across many states including CO, AZ, OK and NE.

We operate two tasting rooms. Our Monument Tasting room and distillery opened in early 2020. Our Colorado Springs tasting room/. speakeasy Brooklyn’s on Boulder street was named the ‘top overall bar’ in 2020 by Colorado Springs readers.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t think we would have done much differently as we have focused on strategic growth in both our distribution, product portfolio and facilities very carefully and that has led to our successes. However, due to its regional popularity and the awards they have earned, if there was one item to do differently, we would have offered our ready to drink canned cocktails a year earlier.
