Meet Nicole Jimenez of Studio Cheveux in Fort Collins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Jimenez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My love for creating beautiful hair started at a young age. When I was about 11 years old, I received a manikin head and I practiced braiding on it all of the time! I was always into coloring my own hair as a teenager and my friend’s hair, which is hilarious to me now! Simply because as a professional, I can honestly say I had no idea what I was doing and didn’t realize how badly their hair could’ve turned out. Nonetheless, thank you to all my friends that let me experiment on them! I went to University and in the back of my mind I knew I really wanted to get my cosmetology license and start my own salon one day.

So, I went to cosmetology school. After completing cosmetology school, I worked as an apprentice for a while and learned so much! Working for some of the top salons in Denver really helped me grow as a stylist. It made me want to invest in myself and start my business. I decided to open Studio Cheveux in my hometown of Fort Collins. My vision was to bring a trendy, luxurious, “big city” experience to Fort Collins! Not just for clients but for stylists. I had a couple of mentors that really helped me grow as a stylist and fall in love with the industry even more. One of my main goals now as a business owner is to mentor other stylists that are also passionate about the industry and to provide a marvelous experience to our clients!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wish I could say that it has been smooth sailing along the way. However, it wasn’t at all. I was in a very toxic marriage for years and it’s so hard to accomplish any goals when you’re just not in a good place in your personal life. I slowly started to obtain some of my goals towards the end of my marriage but when I decided to get a divorce and do it all by myself (raising my children alone, and becoming the strong woman with big goals, I knew I was), that’s when I started to see my success come to light.

I went through a lot of ups and downs in every aspect of my life. Starting completely over was hard. I had to find myself, find what made me happy, provide for my children and stay true to my goals and wants in life. The best advice I could give anyone who is struggling to continue when it feels like you can’t continue any further. Is to keep going. Keep your eye on the prize! These challenges build up our character. Staying consistent and realizing your potential to accomplish anything you set your mind to will bring you success.

My title at Studio Cheveux is Owner/Stylist. I’m a licensed cosmetologist specializing in color. Mainly balayage, babylights, and blonding. I would say I’m known for those three things and bobs! I recently decided to go back and get my barbering license as well, because I do love cutting men’s hair. I want men to feel comfortable in Studio Cheveux and to know that we don’t just cater to women but that we cater to everyone! It’s important for me to be behind the chair as much as possible.

That’s where I’m happiest. Creating beautiful hair on my beautiful clients! I absolutely love what I do. I get to be creative all day, but my favorite part of the industry is building relationships and bonds with my clients and my employees. My stylists go through an advanced education program with me to ensure that all of our clients will receive the best overall experience while in our chairs! As a team, we stay up to date with the newest techniques and trends with ongoing education. My team and I are extremely passionate about our careers and it shows in the quality of services provided. At Studio Cheveux, our goal is to provide all clients with a luxurious, comforting experience, and inviting atmosphere!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We look forward to expanding in the near future! A bigger space eventually and at that point, I will be adding more people to my team and providing more services!
