Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Christiansen.
Emily, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Back in school, I always loved creative projects. I started painting in high school and really got into graphic design during college. I’ve always just considered myself an amateur ya know? It was just a hobby, and something I did for fun. After college, I really expanded my portfolio but funny enough it was all hanging in my house. My house was my personal art gallery because I didn’t have the mindset to sell my art.
Family and friends would come over and try to buy the art right off my walls. This was the boost I needed. I started to share my art on social media. This would be the test; because if total strangers want to buy it, it’s good right? After I started to share my paintings on social media, I realized people liked it. I never took an art class or design class, so my confidence was low. But, I really developed my style and built my confidence, which made all my hang-ups go away. It’s me, and this is my style. I just want to motivate others the way others empowered and motivated me. I cried tears of joy the other day connecting with any old friend that was thanking me for putting my story out there because it inspired her to do the same! OMG!!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a smooth road. This is my passion, something I naturally love, and this fuels me to drive that road. I just paint, edit, print, and sell. People will follow or they won’t. I love it and that is what matters to me. I am self-taught through this all and took my time. I believe that is what has allowed this journey to be easier than most. Once I got past the hang-up that no one would like it, I blossomed. Haha!
We’d love to hear more about your art.
Gosh, it is so weird I’m now calling this a business. I am still waiting for someone to pinch me. No Sugar Added by Emily Christiansen is a creative business. Selling fine art prints, wearables, and various household items, specializing in creating and selling prints. My collection is a pop of color, and rocks on poster printing. Posters are my personal favorite, and I love framing them. No Sugar Added started has come a long way, and I am proud of myself for putting it out there. I really found my creative mojo with this project. Turning art into a brand was a major motivator. You can find my artwork on Society6 for prints on demand. Society6 will print on demand on home decor items, and more. I do all my own designs, graphics, and photography! No Sugar Added by Emily Christiansen art can be found on our Instagram and Website. You can also contact me about commissions for a unique piece! I am just having fun and hoping to motivate others to do what they love!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
