Today we’d like to introduce you to Noe Noel.
Noe, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been making people laugh for as long as I have been able to speak. Figuring out how to make a living utilizing this gift was the hard part. It is rare to have a mentor or educator direct you to this profession. I decided to pursue this dream after doing some soul searching. I was unhappy at my 9-5, I realized I was spending the only life I am guaranteed doing garbage work for people who would never appreciate it. I felt easily replaced and was in a constant state of anger. So I quit my job. I wrote out a list of things I love to do and a list of “careers” that potential included all my passions. Needless to say, a stand-up comedian was the perfect fit for me. I love allowing people to laugh and relieve some pressures of daily living. Connect with people through my experiences and art is more a gift than “work”. It is my way of showing love to people.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth journey. Financial insecurities constantly haunt me. The politics of the industry can be difficult to maneuver at times. It takes constant practice to hone your craft. Failure is not only inevitable but often a greater motivator than success. But the experience as a whole brings me so much joy.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am in the business of comedy. My company is “me”. I write and tell jokes, create events and opportunities for others to tell jokes, travel to places in hopes to connect with other joke tellers and try to procure shows where I can tell jokes. I practice daily honing my skills as a writer and as a performer. I am proud of the amount of recognition I have gained in the industry, in a short amount of time (1 year 6 months). I am also proud of the opportunities I received and created for others to display their craft. The difference between myself and the hundreds of other comedians in the industry is my ability to continuously create new content, connect with crowds of all backgrounds, my personal experiences which I recreate for audiences to enjoy, and my passion for people. I love people and love laughter and nothing brings me more joy than people laughing.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I consider myself to be very lucky. I have been able to avoid many potentially dangerous situations due to luck. Unfortunately, most of those situations have involved “the law” and I’d rather not tell on myself. For my business, I cannot say that luck has had much to do with my success.
