Meet Norma Quinones of Sweet Gold Juice in Denver Metro Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Norma Quinones.

Norma, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My professional career has been marked by a variety of fields and interests that have ultimately led to the foundation of a business that speaks to both my drive and desire to create my own path and personal vision of success. After graduating from New York University with a degree in Economics, and embarking on a short stint in the financial field, I realized my greater passions lied in the performing arts. I began working at an eclectic downtown bar while pursuing an acting career—an experience that enriched and inspired me, as I found myself surrounded by driven and successful individuals with unconventional life paths and unique backgrounds.

While my acting career began breaking new ground, I found myself drawn to a life outside of the city, more deeply immersed in nature and intimately connected to the diverse communities around me. I headed west and participated in a series of WWOOFing structured programs in Hawaii, Baja and Colorado. After working at a juice bar in Aspen, I found myself eager to establish my own business that drew from my Colombian background and emphasized greater wellness in my community. Sweet Gold Juice Co was established in April of 2018 and led me to a journey of personal growth that has allowed me to occupy new spaces and gain the confidence of momentum, opportunity and success.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The greatest struggle lies in the fact that as an entrepreneur, you are laying down your own tracks — the path doesn’t already exist before you. Every aspect involves trial and error, confidence and doubt, and a demand that you fully immerse yourself in a project of your own creation, upon which failure or success rides entirely on your shoulders.

Sweet Gold Juice Co – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I own an organic juice company known for its connection to the community through local farmer’s markets that reach individuals who are not typically immersed in a wellness lifestyle. I am most proud of feeling deeply connected to each piece of this project that ultimately creates the whole. My ownership of the entire creative process allows me to examine my success and expand in new and exciting ways. I also find pride in the fact that as a minority business owner, I am constructing a path that has greater implications outside of myself.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Having a positive impact on my team and driving their personal growth is incredibly important to me. Knowing that what I’m doing has implications outside of my personal success, and can enrich the lives of others, creates a purpose and impact that ripples outward into the greater community.
