Today we’d like to introduce you to Notche.
Notche, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started as a music producer. Making beats has always been my passion. I had the opportunity to work with several major artists and TV networks in the past. I used to reference tracks for other artists until my cousin Gbaby told me that I should try to put a song out just for fun. The first record that I release was called “Congolese Girl” the song alone did over 300k streams on Spotify. Once we saw those numbers, we both got motivated into starting our own Record label. M.O.T.O Records. Music of the Origin. We recently released our first project under the label called “Notche” which is currently at 474K streams on Spotify alone. We are truly excited about the future of our label and can’t wait to show the world what we have next.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Most definitely not! Not knowing how to distribute our music properly was a struggle. Creating a marketing plan that would be able to compete with the major label artists was a struggle. We didn’t know who to contact. We would literally stay up all night trying to find out who is who on Instagram. Even artistically, we couldn’t find the right engineer in Denver, plus the sound was totally different from what they were used to. I had to mix and mastered my own EP.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
As of right now, we are known for music and management. Our biggest accomplishment as of now is my recent EP. We are a new company, we have a lot more work to do. The thing that separates us from everyone else would be the quality of the music. Introducing the world to new sounds.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are working on adding more people to the roster. We are extremely picky of who we choose to work with because we want to make the right choice.
