Meet Steve Parilla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Parilla.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I got my start in window cleaning 17 years ago working for a local family-owned window cleaning business in Southern California. I slowly built up my own customer base throughout the years mainly by door to door sales pitches in residential neighborhoods. I gained a small but consistent customer list that allowed me to work solely for myself. Along the way, I picked up gutter cleaning and window screen repair and replacement. This was a nice change from always just doing window cleaning.

In 2013 I moved to Colorado and built my business up here in the Denver area. As of now, I have one other window cleaner working for me. This has allowed me to focus more on the screen repair side of my business. My goal is to keep growing and to hire a few more window cleaners.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been ups and downs especially in the beginning when I decided to go on my own. Winters were usually slow and one year had to pick up a part-time job delivering pizzas. Going door-to-door trying to sell window cleaning wasn’t my favorite but it worked. Now I have stayed busy enough through the winters.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Parilla window cleaning specializes in residential window cleaning, gutter cleaning, and window screen repair and replacement. I don’t know what sets me apart from other companies but I just try to be fair to my customers and give them good quality work.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Proudest moment of my career well there’s a couple. One was more luck than anything else. I was proud of myself for building up my company going door-to-door especially not being something I was very comfortable at doing. When I moved Colorado I got hooked up with Amazon Local which is similar to Groupon deals. That built my business up with hundreds of customers within just a few months.
