Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Ercole.
Paul, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m an airline pilot. One of the hardest parts of the job is the lifestyle. Sit all day, go out to eat on the layover at night. I try to stay healthy on the road by exercising and eating right, but supplements are a must to stay strong. After one too many torn baggies full of powder in my suitcase, I thought to myself: there has to be a better way… back then, there wasn’t.
I drew up the design for my first product on a napkin on a deadhead to work. Cleaned it up on a painting app on the iPad and fell in love with it in my head. Google brought me to a group in Loveland, CO, called AVID 3D printing. We brainstormed a little and came up with the final design. After tinkering and printing multiple options, we were satisfied how it worked. I received the fully functional prototype weeks later and couldn’t wait to get it to market. We opened up the store selling at The Spartan Race Beast and Sprint Weekend in Breckenridge CO in August 2018. It was a challenging weekend but we sold 250 containers and got the word out. From that point on, we’ve sold over 14000 units and hope to get in more big box stores in the future.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was a pretty bumpy road. Started off with a failed Kickstarter campaign and some poor “help” in social media. Trying to get the foot in the door when you are the new guy is tough. I keep pushing ever week and progress happens, though sometimes slower than I would like. Being the CEO, CFO, Marketing Director, Sales Director, Social media director, shipper, etc. things get a little tough sometimes.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Stuff Made Simpler – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The business name is Stuff Made Simpler, LLC. Halfway through the design process of this, I started daydreaming about the next product. Figured I couldn’t call my business “Stuff” Made Simpler with only ONE product. MyMix2go was designed to help make the powder supplement battle easier or simpler for people, and it does. Along the way, we learned that MyMix2go isn’t just for gym jocks, it’s also for Mom’s with kids that take baby formula. Parents with kids that like to snack. Travelers that take pills with them on the road. It is for anyone that has to leave their house to do just about anything.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The future has our “billion dollar idea.” Only problem is, sometimes you need a million dollars to start. Our next product fits in everyone’s house and everyone’s budget. It’s a product I’ve wished I had on many occasions, and I am surprised I don’t.
