Meet Robb Horen of Dog Savvy in Larimer Square

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robb Horen.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Robb. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My partner, Dana Hood, and I started Dog Savvy with the goal of providing a unique blend of high-quality accessories for dogs and gift items for the people who love their furry companions. We have had the pleasure of watching downtown Denver blossom over the last twelve years into a bustling metropolis and we are proud to be a part of the Larimer Square community. Our professional grooming services and exceptional customer service have kept us growing along with our downtown neighbors. We are excited to see the evolution of Denver continue!

Has it been a smooth road?
We have been blessed with a steady growth curve from our opening in October of 2006. The pet industry is a unique vertical in the retail industry. As pets have become a vital part of people’s lives and families, our business has benefited from people’s desire to provide the best for their four-legged loved ones.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Dog Savvy is unique in the pet industry in that we provide a large selection of accessories and gift items for pets and people while also offering professional grooming and high quality, nutritional treats, and food for dogs and cats. I manage the buying of products for the store and assist my store and salon managers in their day to day responsibilities. We are very different from other similar stores in that we are primarily a hard-goods store with a focus on unique and premium quality products instead of supplying mostly food and treats. I am most proud of our relationships that we have fostered with customers over the last 12 years of operation. I have so many wonderful local customers and many out-of-state visitors who make a point of coming into the store to bring back their furry friends a special gift from Denver.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I am so happy an honored to be a part of Larimer Square. There is no other retail and restaurant location like it in all of Denver. We have a great number of local customers as well as benefiting from the large number of visitors Denver gets on a regular basis. Larimer Square’s management does a fantastic job of keeping the location in top condition and of offering a great selection of special events throughout the year to draw people in.

For new businesses starting out, Denver is a phenomenal place to be. The city has really come into its own and is benefiting from a thriving community of residents.
