Meet Roger Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roger Williams.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Roger. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have spent the last two decades pushing creative boundaries with different types of photography and videography. I began my career as a visual professional covering fashion in South Beach, Miami. I would make what is known as ‘comp’ or ‘composite’ card portfolios for working models.

Fast forward twenty plus years, I continue to work with models, helping them to develop their skills in front of the camera. I also work in commercial, advertising, fashion, and portrait photography. I capture video for corporations and brands as well as editorial-styled segments on interesting people – I really enjoy making these mini-documentaries.

I am pretty good at solving complex problems under pressure. Therefore, my clients have come to depend on my skills behind the camera and my ability to handle a range of challenging scenarios. Looking forward to the fast-paced, ever-changing nature of my business is what gets me out of bed every morning.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Getting to the point where I am today was a long and bumpy road. I am a self-taught photographer and videographer, and I have made my share of mistakes. It is really hard for me to look at my past work from years ago without sometimes cringing.

I feel it is really important to continually learn from your mistakes. Actually, it is the most effective way to improve at doing what you care about the most.

Please tell us about Roger Williams Photographer.
My photo and video production company, simply known as Roger Williams Photographer, specializes in portrait, commercial, advertising, editorial, fashion and event photography.

On the video production side of things, I focus on corporate and news interviews. I recently earned my FAA Part 107 unmanned aircraft license, so I now provide aerial photography and videography. Flying a drone and capturing aerial images has brought a whole new perspective to my work.

I mainly capture images of people. There are so many talented content makers out there, however, I believe what sets me apart is being able to capture the true essence of people and tell a story entirely through the image.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Absolutely nothing! I would do it all over again.
