Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxanne Barnes.

Roxanne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my career are a hairstylist, working at salons around the city and found my passion branching out into other areas of the beauty industry. I took a liking to lash extensions and permanent makeup and saw the new skills I developed as an opportunity to become an entrepreneur, going out on my own as an independent lash and brow artist.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not always a smooth road. Becoming a business owner comes with a lot of obstacles, no one really tells you about. From business planning to marketing, to budgeting and scaling. It all has so much nuance, but I have learned so much with each passing day and could never go back to a 9-5 job. Ever.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Roxy Brows ® story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a permanent makeup artist and certified lash artist, specializing in microblading, ombré powder brows, Permanent makeup removal, permanent makeup corrections and volume eyelash extensions. I am known for my hyper-realistic brow tattoo work and mega volume lashes. I am most proud of the over 80 5 star reviews across Google, Facebook and Yelp. What sets me apart from other studios similar to mine, is my easy, self serve online booking and my meticulous attention to detail in my work.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck. The great thing about owning a business is that you get back. Exactly what you put into it. Effort equals reward, period. You make of your life and business what you will.
