Meet Sandra Jimenez of Unik Photos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Jimenez.

Sandra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
So as I think about my journey so far I can’t help but to get a big and proud smile on my face. I come from the smallest country in Centra America, San Salvador, El Salvador.

I stared photography as a hobby about 10 years ago I am so blessed to be able to call photography my “job” now I genuinely love what I do. I get to make some pretty precious moments stand still in time for so many amazing families. It’s been a wild ride and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that I’ve been given along the way.

Excitement and disbelief is what I feel, something that stared as a hobby became my dream job soon I will be opening my photography Studio and I can’t even begin to explain all the feelings and excitement I have. It feels surreal to thing that in a few weeks, the grand opening of the studio is happening. to hit this milestone is indescribable.

I have worked really hard to be where I’m at right now and even though I still have a long way to go, I see where I came from and I can see how far I become.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing about the obstacles/challenges I have or have had been smooth countless times I have a cry and doubt my self

Owning and running a photography business is not been easy. Running Unik Photos is not just about taking photographs, There’s so much to do to keep the business running, marketing, Contracts, insurance, invoices and more

At the end of the day every obstacle I have face I been able to clim over it and I have learned how to be patience with my self and also been kind to my self. And I have looked at every obstacle as a learning tool on what not to do or how to do things next time.

But honestly I wouldn’t be here with out my amazing clients and all the people who have help me achieve so much even if is just with words of encouragement.

I’m Sandra, a Denver, CO base Portrait & Wedding photographer.

I believe in people. I believe we are art, we are Unik, beautifully and wonderfully made.

When I pick up my camera, I aim to prove that to you. Most people aren’t comfortable in front of a lens and that’s ok. My goal is to make you feel comfortable. I want you to be yourself. I want you to enjoy yourself because your real smile and laughter are perfect, trust me!

My absolute favorite moment is when someone sees themselves from my perspective for the first time and they say, “Oh my, Oh my! That’s Gorgeous!” Well, yes! You are!

I have a true to life colors style where I like to use bold colors and contrasts to bring out the raw emotions in the images I’ve captured my goal is to keep creating memories for people that they Will cherish for the rest of their lives and that when they look at their photograph they will tell stories, feelings.

In my photographs I see color, I see laughters, I seen tears but mainly I see memories that great grandchildren will hear a story later on about that day or that moment felt like.

My biggest cheerleaders and supporters have been my two kids Alex (15) and Mateo (12) they hype me up like you have no idea, they remind me every day how proud they are of me. I have rase them as single parent so the fact they do that for me makes me want to push harder. My Boyfriend is also been a big supporter and is now part of my #TeamUnik

But the biggest key player and the biggest cheerleader one can ask for, is been my mom she played the biggest role in my success, she has taught me so much about life, how to be consistent, thoughtful, courageous.

But mainly she taught me how to really connect with people and care for them and I think that been the biggest key that have help me stay afloat with my business and for that she deserves all the credit not just in this story but my life story.
