Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarabeth Dennis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hairstyling is in my blood. My Grandmother was a hairstylist back in the 50’s and 60’s and also had her own salon. Even when I was in high school, my fine arts teacher told me I should become a hairstylist and he truly thought of me as an artist. So I think from that point I always knew what I wanted to do but after high school, I had to sew some wild oats and I moved to Summit County, CO and became a snow board bum and a bar tender for a few years before buckling down and heading to LA for cosmetology school. After I graduated I moved back to Denver and it’s been non-stop hair ever since. I love what I do and I think I’m pretty darn good at it. I’ve been at it for 16 years and still strive to give the best to my clients and keep up with continuing education to stay fresh.
Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about your work?
Education, training, creativeness, and listening to my clients. I think that’s what helps keep me staying on top of this craft. I love working with people and making them feel special and beautiful. I know it’s not the most important profession on the planet but I treat it that way and I’m just happy that I get to do what I love. It’s also not all about just hair. Hairstylists are photographers, videographers, therapists, fashion designers, chemists, and life coaches! I just love what I do and I think that shows in my work.
Please tell us about Sister B’s Boutique Salon.
Sister B’s Boutique Salon specializes in custom color, cuts, and extensions. I’m creating an environment that is warm, fun, and inviting, and a true sister/misterhood for my stylists. I think sometimes salons can be intimidating for clients and I really want to create a space that people want to come to and enjoy being at.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Being a child of the forest. My parents built their home with their own hands out in the country and it was so magical growing up and playing in the woods. It fostered my love for nature and made me who I am today.
