Meet Sarah Courtney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Courtney.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story starts in Switzerland where I was born. Having grown up with a European mother and an American father, I am very culturally inclined. Grew up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and have always been an outdoor enthusiast. My love for the outdoors and nature translates into my love for animals and their welfare. My parents own a small working ranch and farm in Buena Vista where most of my animals live. We have seven horses, six dogs, two cats, over 150 chickens and water foul among a few other furry friends. My parents instilled a strong work ethic in me at a young age and having grown up around so many animals and out in nature added to that heavily. I graduated from Metro State University of Denver in 2016, with a BA in Journalism, Public Relations and Digital Media.

Upon graduation, I moved to LA for around a year to try my hand in the entertainment industry. I was briefly signed with LA Models and Ideal Talent before being dropped because of my weight, apparently, I was too fat and my face was too round (LOL). Having been in LA for a full year and being exposed to the modeling industry in one of the meccas for it, I learned a lot about the industry as a whole, but also about myself. My time in LA taught me to value myself. Being torn apart by managers, agents and everyone in between took a major toll on me. I was borderline depressed and struggling a lot with my self-confidence. After being dropped and unable to resign with a new agency, I started to explore my career in writing again. Writing has always been a major release for me and it really helped me work through my misgivings about myself. I was able to write myself back to me, returning to the happy go lucky and confident person I had always been prior to the negative experiences I had within the modeling industry. That said, modeling is still a passion of mine. There is something very empowering about being in front of the camera; taking charge and controlling what I project and display for the world to then interpret. I moved back to Denver from LA about two years ago and have been thriving in my home state again. The people, the environment and the vibe is unparalleled.

When I moved back home, I felt as though I was starting over, and it is one of the best things I have ever done. Like hitting the reset button. I fell into a new group of friends, met my wonderful boyfriend and have really dove into building me, my career and my brand. After coming back home, I started to rebuild my confidence and spark my creativity once again. I was resigned by a local agency and built my network with the Denver creatives community, one that I am so elated to be a part of. I have worked for various start-ups as a freelancer, doing content creation and public relations. Most recently, I have partnered with Summer Productions, a local and rapidly growing production company started by young CEO Summer Asturi. I am always looking to grow and evolve, and cherish the relationships and experiences I have along the way doing so. Celebrating my 25th birthday just this week, I feel like I am on the brink of a new chapter in life. Time to really start “adulting” as they say; but also a new chapter of advancement. I am excited about all the things that are happening in my life and I am a true believer in manifesting your most ideal outcome. Through my journey thus far, I have learned that each life experience, whether good or bad, is an opportunity. It will only be what we make of it, so I always try to make it the best.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not been smooth per se, but I wouldn’t change any of the bumps that came along the way. I would not be the person I am today without everything that I have been blessed and burdened with going through.

What else should we know?
As a business, I am my own entity. I work as a freelancer doing a variety of things from written content creation, social media management, PR, modeling, acting, brand influencer, etc. I am proud of the diversity of my expertise and the wide range of things I am capable of doing. I believe that is my greatest advantage and what sets me apart from others who also work within my realm of industry.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success is a lasting impression. Leaving an impact and being remembered for it.
