Meet Sharon Cleere of Meditation Corporation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Cleere.

Sharon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a legal office manager by day, restaurant worker by night, and full-time people pleaser, I used to collect stress like a hobby. This stress didn’t lead me anywhere except the doctor’s office with stroke-like symptoms that turned out to be silent migraines. I was simultaneously diagnosed with, depression, anxiety disorder, ADHD and PTSD and wasn’t finding any relief from medication or traditional therapy.

I knew I needed to find a different approach to regain balance in my life. I left my job, my home, lifestyle and headed for India where I became a certified meditation guide and yoga instructor, turned to Taoism in China, and became intrigued by mindfulness and auto-hypnosis to healing myself. After a long journey of self-healing, travel, and education I found a new passion for teaching the life tools I have cultivated to help others.

Today I use my experience with meditation, mindfulness, and yoga to designing the stress reduction techniques and coping mechanisms that are the foundation of my company, Meditation Corporation. I am also the author of “Namaste, Rainbow!”

This is more than a job, I’m on a mission to elevate stress, something that 77% of Americans say they struggle with to the extent of experiencing physical and mental ailments. Today, I jump out of bed with a big smile on my face because my clients are facing their traumas both big and small, transforming their stress, healing their mental health and gaining mental clarity in all aspects of their life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
A couple of years ago, I came to a harsh realization that I had a bad habit of making big life decisions based on what I thought would make others happy, or what they thought would make me happy. I truly thought that this approval was what I wanted and needed. I thought, I want what others, my parents, my romantic partner, my friends, my professors, my colleges, wanted of me. It killed me when I felt any sort of disapproval from the ones I cared about.

While I am genuinely a people pleaser, no one should lose themselves for the sake of another. To do so is a disservice to yourself and everyone because you deprive the world of your unique identity and full potential.

When I had done all of the things that society and my social circle had told me would make me successful and happy, I felt neither. I knew I had to figure out what would bring happiness and success into my life by my own definition.

Guiding meditation, coaching mindfulness and my book, “Namaste, Rainbow!” are the products of this realization.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My mother, a school teacher, always tells me that the best teachers are those who struggled to understand the topic and over came that struggle before teaching it to others. I teach meditation and mindfulness to a wide variety of audiences, but specifically to individuals who are chronicle busy and stressed, simply because this used to be me. I found meditation and mindfulness very difficult, at times I thought it wasn’t for me, but because I understand the struggle and have overcome it, I now know how to offer the best guidance. Unlike, your traditional meditation guide or guru, I am not a monk, I don’t preach, or ask you to dramatically change your life, I simply offer tools to help you in the life you currently live.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could do it all over again, and I know it sounds cliche, but I really wouldn’t change a thing! It was the struggles and hardships that lead me to this practice. However, I do wonder where I might be in my business and personal practice if I had meditation and mindfulness in earlier stages of my life.
