Today we’d like to introduce you to Siera Capesius.
Hi Siera, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story begins with my passion for Nutrition. Being extremely skinny, I grew up being made fun of. It was this spark that gave me the curiosity and energy to learn about how different foods would help me feel better. In this process I received my B.S. in Human Nutrition & Dietetics, where I learned that how we feel, and think is directly associated with the foods we eat. I started out my career as a Nutritional Chef & a Wellness Consult for King Soopers. It was from there that I started personal training for a big box gym and realized that gyms were lacking the nutrition component when it came to helping people reach their fitness goals. I wanted to expand helping people with both nutrition and fitness combined and took the leap to creating my own brand and venturing off on my own. I opened up Siera Fit within a year and within one more year I opened up my own fitness studio called Nourished Personal Training. The studio has boomed since the pandemic and people are really focusing on getting their health back with both fitness and nutrition.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This industry has never been a smooth ride to say the least! Opening a gym has been one of the most challenging things I have ever encountered in life. Some of the struggles that I faced were how to tackle customer service, manage employees, and also survive a pandemic! But this learning curve has taught me so much about myself and I continue to learn more every year.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nourished Personal Training?
With the impact Nourished has created, it has been awarded the Denver A-List Top Best Personal Training and 5280 Denver Best Personal Training Studio in town. The true difference between the program I created and any other fitness and health program is that it focuses on creating a nutritional lifestyle that contains variety and recipes instead of bland and tasteless repeating foods. The philosophy isn’t about creating a restrictive program that makes individuals feel limited, but a program that includes diversity and foods people still enjoy in moderate quantities. By incorporating foods rich in diverse minerals, vitamins, phytonutrients, fibers and colors the body’s tendency is to heal itself from the inside out. Combined with the Nourished strength and conditioning workout component, clients feel strong, energized and happy to be taking care of themselves in an enjoyable and sustainable journey. Nourished offers one-on-one personal training, small group training, and this includes a variety of different nutrition programs available.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for anyone who is just starting out, is to be patient and to give it your all. The fitness industry will not only eat you alive, but it is extremely challenging. I recommend learning the business side of starting your own personal training company or studio. The biggest mistake trainers make, is not understanding all of the aspects to owning a business. It is important that you can get people into the door, and this should be a main area to master. Focus on the areas you excel in and how you can help those people with your skills.
