Meet Stephen Andrews of Spotted Dog Media in Lakewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Andrews.

Stephen, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
At 21, I was in an interesting place, I was at University for the first time, The University of North Texas and life was good. Fast forward six months, I’m 22 and wreck my car, which at this point in my life is the most important thing to me. So, I ask myself, “What is the quickest way to get another car?” starting a business is the answer I came to. Fast forward another six months I’ve entered a business competition at my school, I break my back and find out that my father has stage 4 colon cancer – all one week before I am due to open my online store. Opening my first business goes well, eventually, I win 2nd place in that business competition, hire my first employee, and open a brick and mortar automotive shop.

My 2nd business was purely events. We hosted some of the largest automotive events in Texas History.

I got to Colorado by taking a Director position with a start-up that ended up going out of business three months after I arrived.

Spotted Dog Media was born out of this. It is impossible to not see the massive need for content production in the Denver area. We live in a hotbed of small businesses, consumers that have disposable income, and a marketing industry that for the most part, is ten years behind the curve. It was impossible for me to resist putting the boxing gloves on and fighting for the smaller businesses.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Using my savings to move up here and then losing the job I move for. I had almost no debt at that point and through the process of staying alive and building spotted dog, I am buried in debt at the moment.

Spotted Dog Media is a full-service Creative Shop and Marketing Agency. We create world-class photos, videos, and audio as well as creating results-driven marketing campaigns.

What sets us apart is that since the creative and marketing are in one house, they both inform each other, which delivers better results.

We specialize in the creation of YouTube Shows, Podcasts, and other forms of continual content creation. The days of one commercial to rule them all are over, and it is time we recognize that.

I am most proud of the fact that we are consistently great. We have set a bar and the only place for that bar to go is up. We under-promise and over-deliver, and work hard to produce the best quality materials at a reasonable price.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My friends. I had a hard go of it, and I just have a lot of memories of smiles from friends that were and are still there for me when I need them.
