Meet Stacey Chesbro of Doodles By Her in Lowry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Chesbro.

Stacey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story isn’t a traditional one. I’m hard-headed so I learn things the hard way. Let me introduce myself my name is Stacey Chesbro cofounder of Doodles_by_her. I definitely wasted a lot of my time working retail jobs at the mall. The Aurora mall to be exact. It wasn’t until I found the cannabis industry that I felt I had a home. Little did I know that this too was temporary.

Always in the back of my mind, I would be thinking of my doodles. Throughout the day I would get in trouble for daydreaming. Until one day I stopped dreaming. I stopped doing everything except for the one thing I love to do….doodle. And here I am today. Living the dream.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. It took me a long time to get over my fear. It was scary not knowing where my next paycheck is coming from, but I’ve learned if I work hard at my hustle I can provide for myself. Now that I have tackled that hurdle. I don’t struggle at all.

We’d love to hear more about your art.
Well…my company consists of nothing but doodles. I do a lot of commission work, and I’m currently working on an adult coloring book. 

I think what sets me apart from other artists is I 100% hand draw everything I do. No digital art here. I’m an 80’s baby so I grew up on Warner Bros and Disney. Watching all those documentaries on how old movies were made use to inspire me. I would draw on everything. As I grew older I realized I wasn’t the only one who has an appreciation for this kinda artwork. I like to come up with original designs and put them in one-of-a-kind prints, t-shirts, and STICKERS.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I’m hoping my future gets even brighter. I’m always coming up with new ideas so hopefully one of them hooks a shark.
