Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Crawford.
Steven, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After nearly 20 years as an executive in Business Process Outsourcing, I had a paradigm shift. While I was great at what I did and made great money, I was not feeling fulfilled. I missed the mentoring and coaching I did for people in my charge as I was ‘working up the chain’. I found myself spending most of my time with the board, finance folks, and C level execs at my client companies. No longer developing my people.
While I did a lot of mentoring through church and volunteer opportunities, I was missing doing it ‘for a living’. I made the decision to change careers completely, take a huge paycut, and pursue what I truly wanted to do.
That let me to McGhee Productivity Solutions. Here, I get to make an impact on people every day via executive coaching, change management consulting, and training programs for our clients.
I’ve never been happier in my life!
I am also the co-founder and CEO of a small business advocate company called Crawford&Grey. We help entrepreneurs launch their businesses, find vetted vendors/partners, and investors.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was a big leap to sit down with my family and share my thoughts on a career change. I was in my mid-40s with a wife and four teenaged kids and was talking about taking a 50% paycut to pursue what I love. We discussed what that would look like (selling the house, tightening the belts, etc.). My family was 100% on board for me to ‘go after it’ and has been immensely supportive for the last three years.
Honestly, at times, it seemed like it wasn’t going to work, financially, but God’s grace was there and we’ve been fine.

Please tell us about McGhee Productivity Solutions.
McGhee Productivity Solutions (MPS) is a consulting firm specializing in increasing productivity at the organization, team, and individual levels of a company. We have a strong philosophy about what makes a culture productive, centered around five specific areas: Alignment, Accountability, Workflow Management, Digital Fluency, and Well-being. We believe that for organizations to be truly productive, they must be aligned across these five areas, with positive behavioral change through internal paradigm shifts.
We do all of the things we support our clients with (Strategic Team Planning, Cultivating Accountability, Objective Accountability Program, Take Back Your Life! personal productivity, etc. etc.)
We are a Woman-Owned Small Business based here in the Denver area. A differentiator for us is that we go beyond providing solutions… we help foster behavioral change and paradigm shifts that lead to sustained change and cultures of productivity.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Hard to say. Playing peewee sports was a very fond childhood memory as was fishing trips with my Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle.
