Meet Swahv of Lion League Music in North

Today we’d like to introduce you to Swahv.

Colorado music producer, videographer, entrepreneur, Swahv, started in punk rock, thrash, and hardcore as a teen before getting in the hip hop scene. As a young transplant from Southern California, it was always DIY since the beginning of his musician career. Little resources and small-town life forced him to discover his many creative talents and make due quickly. Born in a musical family, he’s a self-taught bassist, drummer, and guitar player. The most recent years have been spent honing in music business education, video production, audio engineering, music production, marketing, and forming his label Lion League Music. His beats have been compared to the RZA, Big Krit, and 9th Wonder. His sound is heavily influenced by the 90s boom-bap but also has the hard-hitting bass-heavy drum styles of the Now.

With sample-based productions, Swahv brings his own “Colorado Style” to the table. Swahv wears many hats. After he finishes his beats or completes a record he mixes and masters them all top to bottom. Swahv strives to create whether that be musically or visually. His major influences include the likes of RZA, DJ Premier, MF Doom, Pete Rock, Dre, Madlib, Mike Will Made it, and Eric Arc. Swahv has always been interested in the production of film. He loves the cinematic film styles of Scorsese, Speilberg, Tarantino, Vince Gilligan, and Guy Ritchie. He has music video credits with Audio Push, Tone ET, OP, and Dr.Spaztztk. Swahv was influenced at a young age to become a musician from seeing the high level of skill his dad had on the guitar. His musical drive pushed Swahv to strive for a quality sound. Swahv has produced tracks with Smoke Dza, Hi-Rez, OP, Kent Washington, Dr.Spaztztk, JMAN the King, Tone ET, and Anville to name just a few.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Many struggles. Just taking shots in the dark trying to navigate the indie music and film industries. The whole time I knew that just as long as I put in the work that something will happen eventually.

Please tell us about your work. What do you guys do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
My main businesses are Lion League Music, an indie record label based out of Fort Collins, CO. and Purple Couch Media. I specialize in music production, audio engineering, content creation, marketing, film making, and brand development. I’m most proud of overall quality and quantity we are able to provide as a production/media company as well as a record label. What sets us apart is our work ethic and our output.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is simply doing what you love full time and having the financial freedom to have full autonomy.
