Meet Tamira Trujillo of Skin Mechanixx and Endeavor Exteriors in Wheat Ridge and Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamira Trujillo.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I had an amazing mentor in my mother who always taught me that hard work pays off and that I could do anything I put my mind towards. As I am sure you could imagine many things went through my mind of what I wanted to be when I grow up; everything from a warrior princess to a horse trainer to the winner of the lottery was what I had my sights on. However, when it came down to actually choosing what I want to do in my life, I was lost. I knew that we were taught to go to school and get a degree, so I did that and got a degree in Computer Science with an emphasis on Web Development and a General Studies degree. The general studies degree wasn’t something planned but were more of an expensive accident by my school counselor.

Even though I was enrolled in college, I still just didn’t feel like that was my destiny so I kept thinking. My mother, who had started a large skin care empire here in Colorado, and opened the first skincare, the only school and a great option for me. Go to school and become an Esthetician, of course! So, I thought why not! My mom had forged an amazing business and made a large name for herself, why couldn’t I? So, I got my Esthetics license and certifications in Paramedical Skin Care, Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion, Laser Services, and Permanent Makeup. I even went on to teach a bit as I enjoyed helping people understand and remember what they were learning. In 2008, we were affected like many other people with the downturn in the economy and towards the end of 2010, it was decided it was time to close the school. Enter the second career of my life… I learned the art of business development and relationship marketing! I have worked for marketing departments for businesses like auto collision, mitigation/restoration, and finally roofing where I really developed a passion for helping people. I am now the Director of Marketing for Endeavor Exteriors and the Chair for the Colorado Council of National Women in Roofing. I now get to help people with finding a trusted contractor, mentoring a colleague in the industry, and being one of a growing number of women in a male-dominated industry. I am also the owner of Skin Mechanixx in Wheat Ridge, CO where my love of skincare gets to help our clients.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
They say everything worthwhile isn’t always easy right? I couldn’t agree more! There have been some smooth parts of my careers and some hectic parts. I would say a couple of the most recent bumps in the road happened in the past three years. In May of 2017, right after opening Skin Mechanixx a devastating hail storm came through Colorado and caused roof failure at our place of business. There were flooding and damage everywhere. Just months after our grand opening, we had to have our equipment cleaned and rebuilt and to move to a new location. The momentum we had built came to a screeching halt and we had to start all over close to four months later. We have some of the most amazing, loyal customers and we are forever grateful for them being in our lives! Let’s also not forget about the challenge of being a woman in the male dominant roofing industry. Phew! That took some time getting used to. Sometimes, I had to prove that I knew the industry just as well or even get on a roof and do emergency tarps. It was all worth it though, and now, I can help other women enter and thrive in this industry.

Please tell us about Skin Mechanixx (owner) and Endeavor Exteriors (Director of Marketing).
Skin Mechanixx is a small, but fierce med-spa that was formed in 2017 with the idea of affordable, effective skin care. We offer results based treatments that will help you love your skin again! Acne has a soft spot in our hearts so we offer many treatments around correcting those current issues and the lingering effects of scarring as well. Some of the treatments we offer are Vi Peels (safe for all skin types and extremely effective), Acne Treatments, Dermaplaning, Microneedling, Diamond Microdermabrasion, a Variety of Facials, and more. The one treatment that Skin Mechanixx is the most known for is the Egyptian Face Polish; this service is a type of sugaring that leaves your skin amazingly smooth! I feel one of the main things that set us apart is the fact that you are not just another client to us we truly get to know each person and are grateful for them.

Endeavor Exteriors was founded in 2012 and are a full-service exteriors company specializing in roofing, siding, windows, painting, and gutters. Unlike many contractors, we leverage a variety of technology such as drones, 3D modeling, and customer portals to make sure projects are accurate and run smoothly. A few of the major things that set us apart from other contractors is our quality of work, our outstanding reviews, and how we leverage technology as a company, we are most proud of what we call The Customer Experience. If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I think the most important lesson I have learned is to stop comparing my success to other peoples success. Every person has a specific way of doing things, and I am unique in the things that I do. Once I came to that conclusion, it was a very freeing feeling. The only other thing I wish I would have done… become a social media wizard! Goodness, there is a lot to know and understand and somedays I feel behind the curve, but I am quickly catching up.
