Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Keating.
Taylor, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I picked up my parent’s VHS camcorder in 4th grade and never looked back. Thousands of silly videos compiled into a skill set that eventually became a career in telling real-life stories for large brands like The North Face and Colorado Ballet. I’m so grateful to channel my love of cinema and documentary into character’s lives to expose their truth to greater audiences. The VHS tapes are a thing of the past, but the stories continue to unfold.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every creative person at some point, struggles to have their voice heard. Even though you have talent, you may not find yourself always succeeding in the marketing and promotion of your product. My best advice is to team up / work for/or at least learn from others who have great reputations for collaborating in a friendly and respectful way.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
TaylorKeating.media is my approach to visual storytelling in a market flooded with overly produced slow-motion images and lazy editing. I aim to help brands gain viewership by sharing their most valuable assets: the characters and real-life stories connected to their business. Funny moments, truthful sadness, and a three-act structure go a long way in creating an authentic video product that engages today’s audiences.
What were you like growing up?
I was a little shy, ever observant of the strange humans around me, I had a million potential job interests from Indiana Jones to Film Director. Not much has changed.
