Meet Tiffany Flournoy of Little Moon Boutique in Cheyenne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Flournoy.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tiffany. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
On August 22nd, 2019, my world went dark. My middle daughter, Payton Flournoy 19, was the passenger in a tragic car wreck. She was the only one that didn’t walk away from the accident. Three days later, she donated her organs and tissue to save and help countless people. My daughter is a hero. As others were given a new chance at life, my life and the life of my husband and two daughters, as we knew it, ended. Everything changed. My “little Moon” was gone. Grief swallowed me.

I teach yoga for mental and emotional health. My passion is to guide those that have experienced trauma towards healing. I quickly learned that my students would be the ones to guide and hold space for. I tried to return to some normalcy and begin teaching again. I quickly realized I wasn’t able to physically or mentally teach as often as I used to. There are days my grief would become so dark I would have to cancel. Staying at home became my new routine because going out into the world, most days, became too much. I felt myself fading. One morning I woke from a vivid dream. This same dream repeated for six days in a row until I finally became curious about it.

This dream was different than the ones I normally had because I felt it a message. I felt my daughter was delivering me a message and guiding me towards something that may help me through this next phase of my life. Two months later, “Little Moon Boutique” was quickly becoming a reality. Breathing life into this dream has been therapeutic for me. It has allowed me to focus on something creative and completely new. The experience thus far has given me—a feeling of moving forward.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I challenged this dream often to “test” it’s validity, to discover every request I made would fall into my lap. Everything was falling into place so smoothly it almost didn’t seem real. Then COVID-19 emerged. Although my boutique isn’t scheduled to open up until late April, there is a global crisis happening. People all around me are losing their jobs. Stores are closing. We all know the story. Everything is unstable and none of us knows what tomorrow will bring.

Please tell us about your business.
Little Moon Boutique is a collection of consciously curated gifts and apparel. A place that will give shoppers a unique experience and make them feel good about their purchase. Our values are maps in which we live our life. The items we purchase for ourselves or as gifts should be a reflection of those values. Most products are Eco-friendly, organic, women-owned businesses and made in small batches and socially good. Very few of the items are not made in the USA. Those products are all certified fair trade imports. Every item was chosen with intention. Many of them will also support the spiritual and healing path I offer in my yoga classes.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I want to enjoy this experience from day to day. To embrace the lessons it brings, to reconnect with people again and find joy in offering unique items that will make people feel good about purchasing. We are not guaranteed anything beyond the exact moment we are in right now. Instead of looking into the future, I want to step into the next moment with more patience, forgiveness, gratitude and love than I had in the previous moment.
