Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Johnstone.
Timothy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been doing photography for about two years now. It all began when I started working at Song of the Wolf Healing Center. Song of the Wolf is a wolf and wolf-hybrid rescue center. After some time working there, I began to love the wolves and center so much. I wanted to capture every moment I had with them. I finally bought a camera so I could share with the world how beautiful and powerful the wolves are. I soon started to expand the nature of my work too well, about everything. I hope to keep growing and improving my photography everyday. Colorado is such a beautiful place that I want to explore and capture it as best as I can so everyone can experience it. I hope to inspire people the way I have been inspired by others.
Has it been a smooth road?
Everyone’s life is filled with challenges my life is no exception. Six years ago, I was in a terrible car accident. My car ended up speeding off the road and I went flying through my windshield. I was rushed to the hospital with a collapsed lung and a broken collarbone. I am truly lucky to be alive. I was in and out of hospitals for about three months. This started my opioid addiction that lasted for two years. Once moving to Colorado I had the support of my friends and family and finally gave it up cold turkey. I learned that life is very fragile and with hard work, you can conquer any obstacle. Photography brings me more joy than opioids ever did. I’m so happy to be where I am today. I have an amazing girlfriend and wonderful friends that continue to support me and my work.
Tell us more about the work.
I am a Denver photographer who specializes in events and cityscapes. I am fairly new to the photography scene but have loved it from the start which I believe has helped me grow as fast as I have been. I hope to continue to be able to build clients and have my own art shows as the year progresses. By the end of next year, I hope to have my own photography studio. What sets me apart from other photographers is that I put my whole heart into my work. I am very passionate about photography and what it means to me. I believe you can really see my passion for the work that I do. Nothing makes me happier than seeing clients filled with joy after working with me and seeing my completed work.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I believe that the photography industry will continue to grow dramatically. This means that I must continue to innovate and learn as much as possible. I want to keep up on current trends and make my own. I need to separate myself from others while maintaining who I am.
