Meet TJ Patel of Revive Bodywork in LoHi

Today we’d like to introduce you to TJ Patel.

TJ, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I arrived in Denver on St. Patrick’s Day of this weird year, 2020, hopeful for a new job, new friends, and new life – I had it all mapped out! My fortune seemed to land on the last day the world as we knew it was open. I followed my husband here from New Orleans; the nerves I felt about leaving everything I knew behind were real. The longest journey to find a job during the pandemic ensued: I applied for nearly fifty jobs across all markets before being hired on as Revive Bodywork’s first full-time wellness manager eight months to the day later. To say I’m grateful for Denver’s thriving wellness community would be a grave understatement; this corner of my new city welcomed me with open arms.

Has it been a smooth road?
Aside from moving across the country at the onset of the Coronavirus, I had a really hard time staying creatively motivated, so no, not the smoothest, most inspiring road. My various roles in wellness stimulate much of my personal creative endeavors; I’m in the middle of writing a sophomore novel and a worldwide shut down was less than inspiring when most days just required getting out of bed and over to the couch.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Revive Bodywork – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Revive Bodywork is a really special place in Denver – some say a well-kept secret, and maybe I’m spilling the beans here, but it is such a warm, healing place, and it’s getting a new home! I was hired to manage the wellness space that’s still under construction on 15th and Central. Once that space opens, I’ll be handling the day-to-day, as well as hosting the yoga program, which is my life’s biggest love. I feel drawn to sharing my practice with others and can’t wait to bring it to Denver’s yoga community at Revive. I’m new to the company and relatively new to Denver, so I can say without much bias that what sets us apart is the overall healing experience we are able to curate from start to finish.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I visited Colorado visited for the first time in the fall of 2017 and vowed to sell everything I had worth selling and move to the mountains. Three years later, I still have all my things and somehow managed to get them to Denver! I love waking up to beautiful views and sunshine almost every day; I love the smell of fresh snow; I love the endless amount of coffeeshop options – each one is better and more full of local pastry than the next. I dream of the day when all the restaurant doors are reopened and I can sample all the veggie burritos my heart desires! My least favorite thing about the city is what seems to be a homelessness crisis. It’s concerning but challenges me to be a better, more giving citizen and fight to find ways to solve the problem. I am so thankful to be surrounded by so many like-minded people who want to be and create CHANGE!
