Meet Trailblazer Ashley OWinter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley OWinter.

Ashley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out my professional career in documentary film production. What drove my film work is a love of culture, diverse people, and the role of film in bridging those divides.

Unfortunately, I found that film production was not able to give me the kind of creative outlet I needed. I grew up in a creative family that fostered my love for design, details, and fashion. So, along with my film background and a love for production intense design I started WINTERASH.

By the age of 13, I had thrown a party for pretty much every single one of my friends so the event design game came pretty naturally. I love seeing the look on my client’s faces after I’ve transformed a space into their vision, and I love even more seeing the look on their faces as they partake in the carefully planned experience. Event design is more than making a space look pretty – it’s about creating an entirely new space full of good energy and wonder.

It’s not my style to focus on just one thing which turned me on to making jackets as well. I’ve always been a tomboy, but a tomboy who loves some flare! A simple outfit with a single piece of wild is my style. So naturally, I love creating pieces of flair for everyday wear. My goal is to provide my customers with a sense of confidence and uniqueness. When you look good – you feel good.

Has it been a smooth road?
I had a really hard time switching careers, film was my identity for almost a decade and I didn’t know how to tell people I changed my mind.

So, for everyone starting their journey, or scared to set out on their journey. Remember, you can always change your mind. You define you, do something that makes you happy, and don’t be afraid to take risks.

I focus on fun design – taking something ordinary and making it awesome.
I work with my clients to bring their dreams to fruition and then some. For me, it’s all in the details and the guest experience. It doesn’t take an endless amount of money to create a memorable event – it just takes creativity!
When it comes to my jackets, I love getting inspired and going for it. From subtle details to statement-making pieces, each one is unique and has a lot of love and time put into it.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Never forget your worth and always stand up for yourself. Doubt is your enemy.
