Meet Trailblazer Bailey Konieczka

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailey Konieczka.

Bailey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I recently was cleaning out my childhood bedroom and found a notebook. Elmers glue wrinkles and holds down bright magazine cutouts of letters in different sizes and styles that spell out ‘Bailey’s Dream Life.’ The first page of this notebook had an elaborate and very out-of-scale drawing of my dream home. It’s complete with all my eight-year-old fantasies, so obviously there was an indoor soccer field and an art room. Each section of the home was labeled and get this – even color coordinated. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud as I paged through this childhood creation and found different rooms of the home planned out with magazine cutouts of furniture, colors, and style creating little mood boards for each space. Granted, these visions were an early 2000’s PB teen dreamland and I cringed a little bit of how my style has evolved, it was still fun to see how I had always found importance and value in the energy of home.

My official start to Bailey Katherine Interiors begun about five months after my mom passed away. After she passed, I found massive healing in revitalizing my little Lakewood apartment. I put in brand new drapery on just about every window, bought a ridiculous amount of throw pillows, and my little balcony was overflowing with blooming beautiful flowers. I took the time to slowly and thoughtfully repaint my kitchen chairs. My mom and I loved picking out unique pieces from local antique stores so that’s what I did. I kept the apartment spotless and had the perfect sanctuary.

These seemingly little shifts brought me an incredible amount of peace. I felt safe and whole. This realization was the spark of inspiration that brought me to start my interior design business. I started with helping friends and family through their home projects and then beginning in January 2019, I jumped fully in. It’s been an incredible adventure ever since and I am so grateful for my clients, my incredible business coaches and mentors, and the unwavering love and support from friends and family.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business is really freaking scary. Making the jump to use up most of my savings on everything from business management sites to online courses to coaching is sort of terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. You are basically betting on yourself. You are putting everything on the line and saying “alright, I’m GOING to figure this dang thing out.” I think the biggest struggle was to develop the mental stamina to make it as an entrepreneur. But the beautiful part about that is that while you’re working hard on self-development and improving your mindset, your personal life and your business equally flourish. As an entrepreneur, it’s all interconnected. My biggest advice to other young women who are starting their journey is to let go of their preset ideas of how things need to happen in their lives. I recently read something about how men will apply for jobs that they are 60% qualified for while women tend to wait until they feel they are 100% qualified. Make the dang leap ladies! You don’t have ANY experience if you never try.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bailey Katherine Interiors – what should we know?
Authenticity starts at home. Your home should hold the ultimate sanctuary. It has the ability to ground you, embrace you and your family like a warm hug, and empower and energize you to be your best self. It can be a reflection and realization of your values and gifts. With these strengths at your core foundation, you are able to tap into your most authentic way of being. That’s what I do for my clients. There is a shift that happens when people start to learn about the energetic value of their surroundings. I create consciously designed spaces that allow my vibrant clients to show up as the best versions of themselves. There is a significant benefit to having a space that amplifies positive energy, dials in conscious relationship with space, and provides comfort and peace. I care deeply about our environmental impact and our overall societal health. It’s no secret that both our physical and mental health can be either positively or negatively shifted by our environments. I have a passionate and heart-centered approach to my design work and really believe in the power and transformation of creating a sanctuary for my clients.
